Requirements
  • High school education or GED.
  • Medical or dental assistant experience is preferred.
  • Must have reliable personal transportation, a good driving record, and car insurance.
  • Must have completed and passed a two-step Tuberculosis skin test.
  • Hepatitis B vaccination is preferred.
  • Must have a state radiation license or certificate.
  • Must have good computer skills and medical terminology experience.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to follow directions and listen to the needs of patients and doctors.
  • Requires full range of body motion, manual and finger dexterity, and hand-eye coordination.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, push, and stoop periodically.
  • Must meet frequent lifting requirements, including 50 pounds or more for dental work.
  • Must be able to push patients in a wheelchair.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing within the normal range.
  • Must be able to work under stressful conditions or irregular hours.
  • Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must successfully complete a background investigation and drug screen.
Responsibilities
  • Visit long-term care facilities and assist physicians with dental care.
  • Assist the dentist with patient care in a prompt and courteous manner.
  • Review, verify, and maintain current and accurate clinical records, charts, and medical histories through electronic medical records.
  • Ensure the integrity of all documentation.
  • Update the patient odontogram for every patient encounter.
  • Pass instruments and supplies efficiently to the dentist for the care being provided.
  • Maintain the treatment area by evacuating, washing, isolating, drying, and illuminating it properly.
  • Provide daily feedback and work with the branch office to optimize the dental schedule and reporting.
  • Manage patient flow during facility visits and push wheelchairs when needed.
  • Balance and generate daily production reports and provide them to the dentist upon departure.
  • Post dental charges accurately to the appropriate provider in a timely manner.
  • Care for and clean medical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and report them to the appropriate resources.
  • Maintain and schedule planned maintenance for dental equipment.
  • Clean up the service area used at each facility.
  • Inspect and maintain the vehicle’s exterior and interior appearance, and perform basic support tasks such as routine oil changes, refueling, and changing brake lights.
  • Maintain dental supplies inventory by auditing stock, anticipating needed supplies, and placing and expediting supply orders.
  • Manage resources by preparing supplies with minimal waste or duplication.
  • Ensure dental equipment is working properly by completing preventive maintenance requirements and following manufacturer instructions.
  • Assist the dentist’s diagnosis by exposing and processing digital dental radiographs.
  • Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques.
  • Follow Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act guidelines.
  • Communicate with patients, family members, providers, faculty, and staff.
  • Respond to patient inquiries in a timely manner and document conversations in the electronic medical record.
  • Travel up to 100% of the time and service facilities within a 2.5-hour radius.
  • Support and comply with all components of the compliance program, including completing training and reporting suspected violations of law and company policy.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information and comply with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act and protected health information guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
