Requirements
  • B.S. degree in a relevant scientific discipline with 4+ years of experience in a laboratory setting, or an M.S. with 2+ years experience in a laboratory setting.
  • Experience with molecular biology techniques: DNA / RNA purification; PCR amplification and sequencing; plasmid design and cloning.
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture and transfection, particularly cell line engineering using CRISPR/Cas9 nucleases, base editors, integrases, transposons, or viral transduction.
  • Preferred experience in production of Adeno-Associated Virus vectors for gene therapy.
  • Preferred experience in next-generation sequencing, droplet digital PCR, automated liquid handling, flow cytometry staining, and/or single-cell cloning.
  • Attention to detail, meticulous sterile technique, diligent record-keeping, organization, and time management
  • An interest in technology development, learning new techniques, and inventing novel methods.
Responsibilities
  • Genetically engineer immortalized mammalian cell lines and characterize quantitative and qualitative improvements to AAV production.
  • Design and plan well-controlled experiments. Seek opportunities to innovate and improve current protocols and workflows. Troubleshoot as needed to find creative solutions.
  • Assist with lab operations as needed (setting up new lab space, consumables ordering, equipment maintenance) and generally being a good lab citizen.
  • Support and collaborate on multiple projects in a fast-paced startup environment, working across teams at ShapeTx.
  • Interpret and communicate results to team members to drive key decisions and future experiments.
