Requirements
  • Three years of experience in the neurodiagnostic field, including one year of experience in the specialty modality of practice.
  • A Bachelor's Degree or an Associate's Degree from an accredited Allied Health Neurodiagnostic Education Program, or two years of experience as an internal END Technician.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Certification in Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring from ABRET and/or D.ABNM.
  • Familiarity with in-house monitoring equipment.
  • Ability to perform basic spine and basic craniotomy cases.
  • Ability to interpret intraoperative evoked potentials, electromyography, and electroencephalography independently or under indirect supervision.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Ability to troubleshoot common monitoring problems.
  • Knowledge of current techniques and regulatory standards.
  • Ability to maintain clear, concise written documentation and interpersonal communication.
Responsibilities
  • Document a comprehensive patient history, including neurological symptoms and medications.
  • Perform intraoperative neuromonitoring procedures appropriate to competence and according to policies and procedures, including test setup, electrode application, and maintaining patient safety.
  • Maintain clean testing equipment and properly sanitize supplies and the surrounding area.
  • Report equipment malfunctions in writing to the engineer.
  • Perform advanced tests.
  • Prepare recording reports for physician interpretation.
  • Edit, type, archive, and store files according to laboratory policy.
  • Communicate effectively with patients to explain the purpose of tests and answer questions about them.
  • Communicate appropriately with higher-level personnel.
  • Troubleshoot common artifacts and monitoring protocols while maintaining safety standards.
  • Work cooperatively with colleagues, physicians, and other disciplines.

  • Possible exposure to human tissue and bodily fluids through direct patient contact.
