Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent/relevant experience, certification, or license is required.
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience is required.
  • A valid State of Florida Registered Pharmacy Technician license is required.
  • The ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols and adapt to changing priorities and work demands is required.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment is required.
  • Proficiency in office software, technology, and relevant computer applications is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders are required.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare medications for patients under the guidance of a Pharmacist.
  • Assist the Pharmacist with support activities and processes required to dispense medical prescriptions, including price-checking, restocking drugs, and basic compounding.
  • Collect, input, and verify prescription, refill, and patient information and maintain patient records.
  • Assist pharmacists in filling orders and preparing labels for unit doses and prepackaged pharmaceuticals.
  • Receive and stock incoming medical supplies and drugs.
  • Assist with compounding through didactic and/or basic hands-on work.
  • Participate in assigned training programs and continuing education activities to attain competency in different technician duty areas.
  • Volunteer for extra assignments and cross-training in other department roles and responsibilities of a pharmacy technician, including temporary taskforces or short-term committees.
  • Act as an informal resource for technicians with less experience.
  • Support the training of students and onboarding of new pharmacy technicians.
  • Serve as a mentor and role model.
  • Maintain advanced knowledge and proficient practice in pharmacy dispensing, medication dispensing systems, controlled substance distribution to floors, pre-packing, and other pharmacy technician duties.
  • Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
