Responsibilities
  • Receive, process, and respond to academic inquiries according to established policies and procedures.
  • Support permission numbers, reentry application processing, progress reports, academic alert case management, and probation or suspension student support.
  • Provide advising services for prospective and incoming students, including meetings, transcript evaluation, placement information, program confirmation, degree progress assessment, academic plan development, and new student registration facilitation.
  • Manage an assigned caseload of students, including degree progress assessment, academic plan development, curriculum guidance, registration triage, university withdrawal, add/drop processes, professional credentials and certifications, internships, and transfers.
  • Maintain confidentiality and accurate student records and processes.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for students and provide information about educational options and academic requirements.
  • Assess students' interests, skills, values, and individual factors affecting success, and connect them with appropriate fields of study, career options, and institutional resources.
  • Develop collaborative advising relationships and meet with advisees at least once per semester, or more often as needed.
  • Facilitate registration campaigns in coordination with the college and campus-wide efforts.
  • Develop and implement academic interventions and proactively engage students regarding important dates, deadlines, and retention initiatives.
  • Assist advisees in reading and interpreting degree audits and making informed educational decisions.
  • Provide accurate, timely, and holistic advising services supporting student success, retention, and program completion.
  • Participate in the campus-wide advising community and provide input on advising, recruitment, and co-curricular programs.
  • Implement academic advising events, including workshops, panel discussions, academic success courses, and guest speakers.
  • Support prospective-student and first-year registration events in collaboration with Admissions.
  • Attend departmental and college faculty-staff meetings and participate in events and ceremonies.
  • Engage in campus-wide retention initiatives and data collection efforts, including support for probationary students.
  • Learn and use technology supporting advising and registration, including eSIS, U.Achieve, Navigate360, Slate, and BP Logix.
  • Orient student advisees to educational platforms and student information systems, including eSIS, U.Achieve, Navigate360, and Canvas.
  • Use technology for progress-report case management.
  • Serve on university-wide and system-wide committees and participate in professional development, projects, and other assigned initiatives.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Master's Degree.
  • Two years of experience working in higher education.
  • Experience in the educational area associated with the assigned advising caseload.
  • Experience with integrated information systems, including PeopleSoft, Navigate360, U.Achieve, and Slate.
  • Commitment to developing an inclusive and highly collaborative work environment among faculty, staff, and students.
