Requirements

  • Evidence of past and ongoing leadership training.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure that department members comply with the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority.
  • Hold regular department meetings and provide the Zone Medical Executive Director with meeting minutes.
  • Attend relevant committee meetings as assigned by the Medical Executive Director.
  • Provide co-leadership with the Zone administrative director for strategic and operational planning and budgeting for the zone department.
  • Work with Specialty Site Leads to maintain service continuity through department scheduling practices, including vacation requests, on-call scheduling, and locum utilization.
  • Participate in monitoring departmental standards, quality, and resource utilization in the zone.
  • Provide performance management for all department members.
  • Provide complaint and discipline management for department members.
  • Coordinate medical students and residents in the zone.
  • Support the department's research agenda.
  • Participate in clinical services planning for the zone and Nova Scotia Health Authority.
  • Lead recruitment and retention for the department in the zone.
  • Ensure that new-hire and onboarding processes are completed, with support from the Specialty Site Lead as required.
  • Organize regular IMMR for the department with Organization Performance.
  • Participate in leadership development.
