Requirements
- Must be certified by the Indiana State Department of Health as a Certified Nursing Assistant in good standing.
- Must have completed a state-approved training program in medication administration and hold current Qualified Medication Aide certification from the Indiana State Department of Health.
- Must have a thorough understanding of safe and effective nursing practices within Indiana.
- Must have a high school diploma or GED.
Responsibilities
- Provide medication administration, daily care, health needs, safety, and comfort for residents.
- Administer and document oral, eye, topical, suppository, and ear-drop medications, along with other medications ordered by the physician.
- Perform treatments for minor skin conditions according to physician orders.
- Maintain the locked medication cart and medication keys according to facility policy.
- Check catheters frequently and provide catheter care as assigned by the nurse.
- Document all medications and treatments in the medication record and nurses’ notes according to policy.
- Maintain the confidentiality of residents and their care to protect residents’ rights and privacy.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the staff nurse or designee.
