Requirements
  • An associate degree in Fashion Design or Fashion Merchandising, or a Bachelor of Science degree in Fashion Merchandising, Design, Home Economics with an appropriate concentration, or Marketing.
  • Alternatively, an associate degree in one of the listed fields and three years of non-teaching work experience.
  • Three years of non-teaching industry experience in Fashion Merchandising, retail management, or brand strategy.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using computer applications, online resources, Adobe Creative Suite, and other classroom technologies.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using an online learning management system such as Blackboard to develop and build course content and perform administrative duties.
  • Ability to maintain regular office hours and meet deadlines for attendance certification and submission of final course grades.
  • Ability to perform the physical activities required in the office/classroom environment, including lifting up to 10 pounds, and to follow safety rules.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and teach Fashion Design and Merchandising courses to a multicultural student population using instructional strategies appropriate to community college students and discipline standards.
  • Evaluate student progress and provide clear, timely feedback based on program learning outcomes and departmental expectations.
  • Provide teaching and mentoring services to students without discrimination.
  • Remain current in the field through professional development activities.
  • Participate in the annual graduating fashion showcase.
  • Use the college learning management system appropriately to post office hours, syllabi, and course content.
  • Participate in graduation, general assembly, collegewide, campus, department, and other official college activities and meetings.
  • Comply with college policies and procedures and meet professional standards for teaching in a community college.
  • Report unsafe working conditions and behavior and take reasonable actions to prevent unsafe practices.
  • Perform other related tasks assigned by the department chair, dean, or other college administrators.
