Requirements

Experience: you have a BS degree (or equivalent professional experience) in Computer Science or related engineering field with at least 8 years of experience with at least 4 years in SRE/DevOps
Systems Engineering: you have experience building, and deploying distributed services and are excited to work with them at a global scale
Programming: you have experience writing common systems programming languages (ie Python, Ruby, JavaScript, Go, …)
Organization and Planning: you're excited about getting in front of complex problems, organizing your work to balance of pragmatism, impact, and best practices; overcoming emergent issues and contributing to long-running projects as a part of the team. Thinking ahead with tasks relating to projects and the bottom line are top priority for you
Great Partnership: You know that partnering and good communication leads to the best and broadest impact, so you seek to have no silo walls in your work

Responsibilities

Lead high impact projects that span across multiple teams
Mentor and train other team members
With half your time, you'll partner deeply with Software engineering teams to deeply understand their process and automation needs
With the other half of your time, you'll design, build, automate and improve processes to improve engineering workflows and tools of all kinds. SRE at Roblox are not operations engineers; they are software engineers who code within the platform and tooling feature sets
Play an essential part in our company-wide SRE community, sitting together with your SRE partners and supporting their work and growth, similarly to how you support your partner teams
Participate as a peer with your Software Engineering partners in the on-call rotation for services that your partner team oversees
Champion best practices and a data driven approach

About the role

As a Principal Site Reliability Engineer at Roblox you will help build a culture of reliability into the Roblox ecosystem. You will work hand in hand with our Product teams and write tools to keep our uptime high. Our Embedded SRE team focuses on impact and execution, and jumps into issues where a need for increased reliability is identified. this is a Hybrid role located in our San Mateo headquarters.

You Have

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.

$315,850—$383,910 USD
