Job Details:

Purpose

The Communications & Content Writer will write and edit content that promotes EEV's programs, people, and events to the media and the public. The primary focus is press releases and media outreach, with additional writing for EEV's blog, newsletter, and social media channels. This position is ideal for a student who enjoys writing and wants to build a professional portfolio in communications, journalism, or public relations.

Responsibilities

• Write and edit press releases, media advisories, and pitches announcing EEV programs, initiatives, and events
• Write blog posts, newsletter articles, and social media copy that reflect EEV's voice and brand standards· 
• Gather information from EEV program teams to develop story ideas and announcements·      
• Build and maintain media contact lists, distribute releases, and follow up with journalists and editors·     
• Coordinate media interview requests for EEV leadership and subject matter experts·      
• Track media coverage and content performance·      
• Support additional communications projects as assigned
  

Required Qualifications

• Current UT Austin student
• Strong writing and editing skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, English, Marketing, or a related field
• Experience writing for a student publication, blog, newsletter, or organizational social media account
• Familiarity with AP style
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Strong attention to detail
  
  

Salary Range

$15.00 per hour

Working Conditions

• Work to be performed in typical office environment
• 15-19 hours per week
