Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or two to three years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in the folding carton industry.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend documents and verbal instructions in English for safety, ISO, and work-related tasks.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small-group situations.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, vendors, or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Experience troubleshooting pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Experience with three-phase electrical systems up to 480 volts.
  • Experience with programmable logic controllers.
  • Proficiency in machine shop operations to fabricate repair parts.
  • Ability to perform gas welding, brazing, soldering, and electric welding.
  • Familiarity with Lockout/Tagout procedures.
  • Ability to read and use mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and other maintenance plan prints.
  • Ability to use measuring devices including tape measures, calipers, micrometers, scales, gauges, and meters.
  • Ability to operate maintenance equipment including a lathe and drill press.
Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive maintenance as scheduled.
  • Repair machines and address facility maintenance issues.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date records of all work performed and complete required forms.
  • Work the hours required to keep all equipment ready for operation, including responding to breakdowns.
  • Maintain the physical structure of the establishment and keep work areas neat, clean, and safe, including the building exterior and property.
  • Perform snow removal periodically as weather conditions require.
  • Train department personnel in the proper use and care of equipment and in all phases of the work.
  • Maintain an inventory of supplies and materials and requisition replacements when the supervisor is absent.
  • Use reliable troubleshooting methods throughout the facility.
  • Use preventive maintenance systems to reduce unscheduled downtime.
  • Identify potential safety issues and proactively address them.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts involving maintenance and production.
  • Use problem-solving methods to improve facility safety, housekeeping, waste reduction, quality, productivity, and cost.
