Requirements
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • A DoD Secret or higher security clearance is required, or the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • A high school diploma and four years of experience supporting U.S. Coast Guard or U.S. Navy C4I system installation and integration are required, with U.S. Coast Guard experience preferred.
  • Alternatively, U.S. Coast Guard or Navy “C” or “A” school and four years of experience supporting U.S. Coast Guard or U.S. Navy C4I system installation and integration are required, with U.S. Coast Guard experience preferred.
  • Experience with cable fabrication, including multi-pin, radio-frequency, network, power, fiber, military-specification, or serial cable assemblies, is required.
  • The candidate must understand and interpret engineering drawings.
  • The candidate must demonstrate thorough knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint and solid experience with Microsoft Excel.
  • The candidate must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • The candidate must pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable reference and background check results.
  • The candidate must be able to travel between 60% and 75% annually.
  • The candidate must be able to bend, stoop, sit, walk, or stand for prolonged periods, work in a kneeling position, carry up to 50 pounds, and perform cable runs under false decking.
Responsibilities
  • Perform installation, removal, and upgrades for electrical, electronic, and command, control, communications, computers, intelligence systems, including wiring terminal boxes, testing and verifying connections, meggering cables, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Perform system testing to evaluate performance and functionality with supervision.
  • Operate tools to fabricate, install, remove, and upgrade systems.
  • Use drawings, technical manuals, instructions, standards, and specifications to perform system installation, removal, and upgrade activities.
  • Perform cableway and connector work, fire watch, and confined-space duties under supervision, and perform special qualifications such as fiber handling, shipyard competent-person duties, and paint sampling when assigned.
  • Read and interpret installation drawings and cable run sheets with assistance.
  • Fabricate connectors by soldering or crimping for navigation, communication, and power equipment.
  • Construct components, subunits, or simple models; adapt standard equipment; and troubleshoot and correct malfunctions.
  • Follow layout and scientific diagrams to construct and package simple devices and equipment subunits.
  • Lead crews or mentor junior staff under general supervision.
  • Conduct site inspections, manage small project milestones, and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Check the quality of other workers’ output and coordinate team workflows.
  • Perform complex, non-routine tasks and test and troubleshoot advanced systems.
  • Conduct tests or experiments, make minor modifications to test setups or procedures, select and operate standard test equipment, and record test data.
Desired Qualifications
  • NavSea cableway and/or connector certification is desired but not required.
  • U.S. Coast Guard experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency operating warehouse equipment, including pallet jacks and forklifts, is desired but not required.
