Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in business, human resources, or equivalent experience is required.
  • At least 3 years of employee relations experience is required.
  • Current working knowledge of employment law and regulations, including Title VII, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, equal employment opportunity, unemployment, and labor relations, is required.
  • The ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain strict confidentiality, and make equitable and consistent decisions is required.
  • The ability to manage and resolve numerous issues across a variety of topics daily is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • Experience leveraging lean methodologies and tools is required.
  • The ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and manage highly confidential information is required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Employees must adhere to abuse prevention policies, maintain appropriate boundaries, complete required training, report suspicious or inappropriate behavior, and comply with mandated reporting requirements.
  • Employees are responsible for ensuring staff are properly screened, trained, supervised, and held accountable to the organization's abuse risk management standards.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough, accurate, and prompt investigations into workplace misconduct allegations, including discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.
  • Write clear and concise investigative summaries, reports, and termination proposals.
  • Consult with Legal to ensure appropriate investigation procedures and outcomes are applied.
  • Provide managers with guidance and support regarding performance and conduct management.
  • Promote thoughtful and consistent corrective action practices that comply with the YMCA of Greater Seattle Employee Handbook, values, and mission.
  • Monitor and maintain the internal investigation tracker and complaint tracking system.
  • Monitor and maintain employee and organizational data systems related to performance reviews and corrective action, and prepare timely reports as directed.
  • Provide accurate legal and handbook information to staff across the association in consultation with General Counsel and other agencies when needed.
  • Provide conflict-resolution support, including mediation, conversation facilitation, and application of restorative and transformative justice principles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification, or evidence of pursuing certification, is preferred.
  • Experience with HRIS software is preferred.
  • Knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations is preferred.
  • The ability to speak any language in addition to English is preferred.
  • Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience may be considered.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite is desirable.
  • Strong organization, analytical, interpersonal, negotiation, and relational skills are desirable.
  • Experience creating, measuring, and scaling program metrics is desirable.
