About the company

SkyWatch builds the infrastructure to distribute Earth observation data. It aggregates imagery from many satellite operators and serves two main customer groups through two products. For data consumers, EarthCache offers a single API to search, order, and integrate satellite imagery into applications, lowering the complexity of dealing with multiple providers and licensing models. For satellite operators, TerraStream provides data storage, cataloging, ordering, and delivery, acting like a marketplace backend that lets operators monetize their data without handling distribution logistics. Revenue comes from pay-as-you-go pricing for data consumers and subscription services for providers. The company’s aim is to democratize access to Earth observation data and expand the commercial space economy by making it easier to obtain and monetize satellite imagery.

What believers are saying

  • July 2026 ArcGIS Enterprise support opens regulated government and utility deployments.
  • June 2026 Microsoft Planetary Computer Pro integration removes ingestion friction for Azure analysts.
  • February 2026 Spexi drone imagery and January 2026 Nearmap expand premium supply.

What critics are saying

  • SkyWatch's last disclosed funding is 2021 Series B; growth now depends on partner expansion.
  • Esri and Microsoft disintermediate SkyWatch by bundling imagery procurement directly into their platforms.
  • If satellite operators bypass SkyWatch's marketplace, TerraStream becomes a thin middleware layer.

What makes SkyWatch unique

  • EarthCache unifies satellite, aerial, and drone imagery through one procurement API.
  • TerraStream monetizes provider data end-to-end, from cataloging to delivery and rights control.
  • SkyWatch embeds imagery inside ArcGIS, Microsoft Planetary Computer Pro, and Copilot workflows.
