Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar discipline with at least 9 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in a similar discipline with at least 7 years of related experience, or a PhD in a similar discipline with at least 5 years of related experience.
  • Experience in quality assurance/quality control and design review of moderately complex building or facilities projects is required.
  • Knowledge of electrical building systems, applicable codes, and industry best practices is required.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and evaluate construction drawings, specifications, and engineering calculations is required.
  • Ability to produce clear technical documentation through strong written and verbal communication is required.
  • Ability to work independently with efficiency and sound professional judgment is required.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam and working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office applications are required.
  • Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local codes and regulations is required.
Responsibilities
  • Review electrical design drawings, calculations, and specifications for compliance with the NFPA 70/National Electrical Code, California Electrical Code, applicable building and energy codes, JPL Facilities Design Standards, and accepted engineering practices.
  • Review coordination with architectural, structural, mechanical, and other building systems, as well as constructability, clarity, completeness, and long-term maintainability.
  • Review and evaluate electrical load calculations, short-circuit and coordination studies, single-line diagrams, grounding and bonding systems, lighting and lighting control systems, and power distribution systems.
  • Verify compatibility of new electrical systems with existing building infrastructure.
  • Provide clear, concise, and actionable written Quality Assurance/Quality Control comments and technical feedback to designers and consultants using Bluebeam.
  • Review resubmittals and verify incorporation of required corrections.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining Quality Assurance/Quality Control review standards, checklists, and procedures.
  • Participate in technical meetings and internal design reviews and provide guidance on code interpretation and design issues.
  • Identify non-conforming work, potential safety risks, and design deficiencies and support their resolution.
  • Maintain accurate records of reviews, approvals, and Quality Assurance/Quality Control documentation.
  • Prepare activity summaries and status/progress reports.
  • Support continuous improvement of design quality, consistency, and compliance across facilities projects.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee commissioning and system acceptance testing to ensure compliance with design intent, performance requirements, and operational readiness.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Loft Orbital to deploy NASA JPL's AI software for real-time Earth disaster monitoring

Loft Orbital has secured an agreement with NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory to host and demonstrate AI software on its space infrastructure. The collaboration, part of JPL's Federated Autonomous MEasurement project funded by NASA's Earth Science Technology Office, will advance on-orbit AI capabilities for Earth science remote sensing. Flight demonstrations began in June 2026, with additional deployments scheduled through 2028. JPL's AI software aims to reduce data latency by processing information in near-real time, delivering urgent insights on wildfires, flooding and natural disasters to emergency responders. The spacecraft will demonstrate autonomous tip-and-queue tasking without ground intervention using intersatellite links. Founded in 2017, Loft Orbital has flown over 25 missions and operates facilities in San Francisco, Colorado and Toulouse, France.
