Requirements
  • Two years of experience in the acquisition, assembly, and interpretation of research and technology information.
  • Knowledge of science and technology information sources in nations, including defence research laboratories, academic institutions, media, and defence ministries.
  • Experience interpreting future science and technology and Emerging and Disruptive Technology information to assess how technologies may be applied within military environments and adopted to address current and future operational challenges.
  • Practical experience with personal computer office automation products, including using the internet for information research.
  • Ability to conduct analytical work on Emerging and Disruptive Technology documentation, identify adoption pathways, and develop practical examples of how emerging technologies can be applied to current and future conflicts.
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree at a nationally recognised or certified university in computer science, information and communication technology, or a closely related scientific or engineering discipline, plus four years of post-related experience. The degree requirement may be compensated by at least six years of extensive and progressive experience related to the function.
  • Advanced proficiency in English.
  • Valid National or NATO Secret personal security clearance.
Responsibilities
  • Contribute to identifying new and cataloguing existing Emerging and Disruptive Technologies.
  • Contribute to the sustained assessment of Emerging and Disruptive Technology implications and adoption opportunities in support of the Warfare Development Agenda.
  • Promote increased experimentation of Emerging and Disruptive Technology-based solutions in realistic environments.
  • Provide and coordinate input to programming Emerging and Disruptive Technology activities within ACT Science and Technology Programme of Work in support of ACT foresight, the NATO Defence Planning Process, multinational solutions, capability development, training, and education.
  • Influence and exploit Emerging and Disruptive Technologies that address identified capability shortfalls and significantly impact available capabilities.
  • Provide and coordinate input to the production and delivery of Emerging and Disruptive Technology advice informing strategic foresight analysis, NATO defence planning, and subsequent capability and force development efforts, including capability requirements formulation, concept development, experimentation, and Analysis of Alternatives.
  • Identify capability shortfalls that could benefit from Emerging and Disruptive Technology adoption by analysing NATO Defence Planning Process products and operational lessons learned, and coordinating with other Allied Command Transformation staff.
  • Educate Headquarters Supreme Allied Commander Transformation staff on opportunities and risks associated with Emerging and Disruptive Technologies.
  • Organise and manage a knowledge base by sustaining information on the current status of Emerging Disruptive Technology adoption for Warfare Development and enabling information exchange between Allied Command Transformation, NATO, and national Emerging Disruptive Technology stakeholders.
  • Act as a member of the Innovation Branch under Multi-Domain Force Development, executing tasks and duties directed by the Section Head for Science and Technology or superiors on projects, activities, and outputs related to the Branch's core tasks in the broader field of Science and Technology.
