Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent, or an associate's degree or equivalent.
  • At least one year of experience as a Cardiovascular Technologist I or similar expertise, or graduation from an accredited Invasive Cardiovascular Technology program with equivalent education and experience, or graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology plus one year of radiologic experience.
  • RCIS, RCES, CEPS, or RT(R)CI certification is required within the first two years of hire and must be maintained.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification and South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Act requirements are required when applicable.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or an American Red Cross equivalent is required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within three months of hire and maintained thereafter.
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, climb stairs, work indoors and occasionally outdoors in temperature extremes, work at elevated heights and in confined spaces, kneel, bend, twist, squat, pinch, grasp, manipulate objects, reach overhead and in all directions, and perform repetitive hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder motions.
  • Ability to fully use both legs, use the lower extremities for balance and coordination, lift and carry 50 pounds unassisted, lift or lower 50-pound objects, lift 25 pounds overhead, and exert up to 50 pounds of force.
  • Corrected vision of 20/40 in one eye or both eyes, ability to recognize objects and discriminate colors, depth perception, peripheral vision, and corrected hearing acuity.
  • Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations, work rotating shifts and overtime as required, work in a latex-safe environment, maintain tactile and olfactory sensory function, and qualify physically for respirator use.
  • Licensure from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association is required.
Responsibilities
  • Perform scrub duties and related procedures for cardiac interventions, left heart catheterization, and right and left heart catheterization without assistance.
  • Perform scrub duties and related procedures for peripheral diagnostics or interventions with minimal assistance.
  • Scrub, gown, glove, and set up the back table with necessary equipment.
  • Record cardiac interventions and catheterization hemodynamics accurately.
  • Monitor procedures and document inventory used and the order of events in the Mac-Lab event log.
  • Maintain electrocardiogram setup and rhythm monitoring.
  • Maintain basic hemodynamic setup and waveform monitoring.
  • Assist fellow staff members in preparing the room for safe and effective patient care.
  • Perform required checks on all safety equipment.
  • Ensure adequate supplies are available to perform procedures.
  • Transport patients alone or accompanied by a fellow staff member.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with telemetry and arterial and venous sheath removal.
