Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology.
  • Zero to two years of modality-specific work experience.
  • Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in radiography is required.
  • Registration with the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) is required, or must be obtained within one year in the position.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification is required from the American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider equivalent.
  • Ability to perform the required standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, squatting, reaching, and fine and gross motor functions.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds unassisted and assist with lifting and moving patients weighing up to approximately 350 pounds.
  • Corrected vision of 20/40, near and distance vision, color discrimination, depth perception, and peripheral vision are required.
  • Hearing acuity, including the ability to hear and understand whispered conversations at a distance of three feet, is required.
  • Ability to maintain tactile and olfactory sensory functions.
  • Ability to be physically qualified by medical personnel for respirator use initially and annually.
  • Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
  • Ability to learn and use new processes, tools, and equipment as required.
Responsibilities
  • Perform high-quality magnetic resonance imaging examinations on neonates, pediatric patients, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
  • Operate magnetic resonance imaging equipment safely and efficiently to obtain diagnostic-quality images for physician interpretation.
  • Use available magnetic resonance imaging resources, protocols, and technology to provide accurate and timely imaging services.
  • Prepare, position, and educate patients regarding magnetic resonance imaging procedures.
  • Follow established safety standards, infection-control practices, and magnetic resonance imaging-specific protocols.
  • Monitor patients throughout examinations and respond appropriately to their needs and concerns.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in accordance with departmental and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members to provide patient care.
  • Care for and maintain magnetic resonance imaging equipment and work areas and perform quality-control activities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental operations and organizational policies and procedures.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least one year of X-ray experience is preferred.
