About the job

Requirements
  • Seven or more years of relevant industry experience in software integration, development, or quality engineering, including prior release qualification experience.
  • Proven ownership of end-to-end release or qualification processes for complex, distributed systems.
  • A strong track record of debugging complex issues across distributed, scaled-out deployments under release-blocking time pressure.
  • Deep expertise in automation and programming using one or more languages such as Python, and the ability to build reusable test frameworks from the ground up.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives spanning multiple organizations, product development, product management, and field teams.
  • Sound judgment on coverage trade-offs, risk-based prioritization, and go/no-go release decisions.
  • Experience presenting technical findings to engineering and leadership audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills, an ownership mindset, and the ability to drive projects to completion.
  • Experience leading and mentoring engineers across geographically dispersed teams and time zones.
Responsibilities
  • Drive weekly end-to-end release qualification as the accountable owner from the organization.
  • Build and run a purpose-built release qualification team so triage capacity is planned rather than dependent on ad hoc staffing, ensuring strong, predictable representation from the organization.
  • Own the full release qualification lifecycle, including test planning, release planning, and documentation.
  • Own triage, debugging, and escalation during release windows, including deciding what blocks a release and routing fixes to the right owners.
  • Drive expanded end-to-end coverage across Cloud, Inference Platform, and Inference API through cross-organizational boundaries.
  • Partner with the cross-organizational release qualification team as the technical counterpart who understands the tests.
  • Distinguish real regressions from flakiness quickly and maintain a record of what happened and who to escalate to.
  • Mentor engineers on triage, debugging practices, and qualification methodology.
Desired Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience with machine learning workloads, including large language model and/or multimodal training or inference.
  • Experience designing test strategies for distributed systems and cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience with microservices deployment, debugging, and orchestration at scale.
  • Familiarity with hardware-backed inference services and the trade-offs of hardware and software.
  • Prior experience building or significantly shaping a team's quality engineering culture or test infrastructure.

About the company

Cerebras Systems creates AI acceleration hardware and software. Its CS-2 system is designed to replace traditional GPU clusters for AI workloads, speeding up training and inference while simplifying the setup by eliminating the need for parallel programming, distributed training, and cluster management. The product works as a single, large processor-based accelerator with accompanying software and cloud services to run AI models efficiently, reducing latency and time to results. Compared with competitors, Cerebras differentiates itself with the largest processor in the industry and an integrated hardware-software stack that aims to streamline AI workflows rather than relying on multi-GPU clusters. The company's goal is to help research labs, healthcare, finance, and other industries achieve faster, more cost-effective AI development and deployment by offering a turnkey high-performance AI compute solution.

What believers are saying

  • Q2 2026 core revenue hit $209.9 million, up 103% year over year.
  • Cerebras booked $25.4 billion in RPO on June 30, 2026.
  • Finland's September 1, 2026 Mikkeli campus adds 165MW contracted capacity.

What critics are saying

  • Data-center shortages force Cerebras to rent back customer systems, crushing near-term margins.
  • The August 2026 copyright class action in N.D. California targets model-training practices.
  • If power builds slip, Cerebras misses 2027 delivery and the backlog becomes stranded paper.

What makes Cerebras unique

  • Cerebras' wafer-scale chips still beat cluster-based AI systems for low-latency inference and training.
  • OpenAI signed a 750MW deal in December 2025, validating Cerebras' architecture.
  • AWS Bedrock integration and AMD disaggregation extend Cerebras beyond one-off hardware sales.

Cerebras falls 10% as Culper claims its wafers wear out in two years

Cerebras Systems shares fell 10% after short seller Culper Research claimed the company's wafers "break down after just ~2 years in use." The drop erases Tuesday's 10% gain, which followed a deal to offer Cerebras systems on Oracle's cloud. Culper also said Cerebras's draft IPO filings through December 2025 gave its systems useful lives of 1.5 to 3 years. Four months later the range was 3 to 5 years, with no explanation. Longer lives mean lower depreciation and higher margins. The two-year figure is unproven. Cerebras's gross margin rose from 11.7% in fiscal 2022 to 42.3% in fiscal 2024, then slipped to 39.0% in fiscal 2025. Oracle plans to have Cerebras systems in its data centres by the first half of 2027.

Oracle adds Google, Cerebras and SambaNova AI chips to cut reliance on Nvidia

Oracle is adding AI chips from Google, Cerebras, and SambaNova to its cloud networks, as it seeks to reduce its reliance on Nvidia. It marks the first time Google is selling its Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) for use in a third-party data centre, rather than only renting out capacity. Cerebras' chips will provide AI inference and AI agent processing power, while SambaNova's SN50 processor will handle agentic inference. Companies want to avoid being locked into a single supplier and to contain costs. Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, OpenAI, and Anthropic also have or are developing custom chips. Nvidia is not in immediate trouble, though. Oracle is also bringing Nvidia's Vera Rubin NVL72 superclusters and Vera CPUs to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Oracle is also partnering with OpenAI on an AI Workspace, which lets users access Oracle's tools via ChatGPT.

Retail bets Musk could buy Cerebras as shares sit 40% below $185 IPO price

Retail traders speculate that Cerebras Systems' steep selloff could let SpaceX chief executive officer Elon Musk buy the AI chipmaker. Shares of SpaceX (SPCX) edged 0.1% lower premarket on Monday. Cerebras (CBRS) closed Friday at $110.82, about 40% below its $185 IPO price and 71% below its $386.34 debut-day peak. The stock is down 64% this year. Musk said on Sunday that SpaceX had closed $40 billion in GPU financing. He separately ruled out buying neocloud companies. Scrutiny of Cerebras' OpenAI ties has weighed on the stock. OpenAI accounts for a significant portion of Cerebras' $25.4 billion in contracted revenue yet to be recognised.

Cerebras, OpenAI's chip partner, bets on AI speed with a 750MW deal through 2028

Cerebras Systems (NASDAQ: CBRS), a lesser-known chipmaker, is drawing attention in the AI boom with a processor built for speed. Its Wafer-Scale Engine puts computing cores, memory, and communication on a single piece of silicon, cutting the need to move data between components. The company targets AI inference, where trained models answer questions, write code, and run tasks for millions of users. Inference is among the fastest-growing areas of the AI market. Cerebras and OpenAI agreed a multi-year deal to deploy 750 megawatts of Cerebras compute capacity, with staged deployment through 2028. In August, Cerebras said it powers the Ultrafast mode for OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Sol, which it says delivers up to 750 output tokens per second and runs up to 14 times faster than standard processing. Cerebras also announced its CS-4 system, which it says is up to twice as fast as its predecessor.
