  • A bachelor's degree in Parks & Recreation, Recreation Management, Hospitality Management, or a related field is required, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Five years of experience in golf or tennis operations, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience providing the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Responsibilities
  • Manage the daily operations of a county golf course or tennis center, including staff, course or court operations, pro shop and clubhouse operations, driving range operations, golf cart and cart barn maintenance, financial accounting, marketing, and contractor oversight.
  • Manage and evaluate assigned staff; develop and oversee employee work schedules; compile and review timesheets; address employee concerns and problems; counsel or discipline employees as appropriate; assist with or complete performance appraisals; manage work; act as liaison between employees and management; and train staff in operations, policies, and procedures.
  • Organize, prioritize, and assign work; schedule activities; ensure staff have necessary resources; monitor work in progress and inspect completed work; assist staff with complex problems and provide technical expertise; report progress and activity to management; and assist with procedure manual revisions.
  • Coordinate facility use, maintain the master calendar, schedule facility rentals, prepare for events, set up meeting rooms, prepare courses or courts, decorate for special events, maintain related documentation, and open and close the facility.
  • Ensure facility maintenance by conducting inspections, scheduling repairs and maintenance, and supervising building cleanliness.
  • Manage facility operations, including the pro shop and clubhouse, driving range, golf cart fleet care and maintenance, and property and building security.
  • Monitor and ensure maintenance of the golf course or tennis courts, grounds, and clubhouse to support guest safety and enjoyment.
  • Establish and enforce golf or tennis operations rules, regulations, policies, and procedures to provide effective public operations and services.
  • Communicate with patrons to ensure quality customer service from golf or tennis, pro shop, and clubhouse personnel; perform customer service and administrative duties; and respond to citizen inquiries, concerns, and complaints about programs, policies, or personnel.
  • Maintain accurate inventories of equipment and supplies, shop merchandise, daily receipts from golf or tennis rounds or games, and personal property.
  • Book tournaments and provide information about green fees, cart rentals, starting times, and course or court availability.
  • Plan, organize, and promote youth camps, lessons, tournaments, and other golf or tennis programs, events, and contests for community members.
  • Use golf or tennis operations software, including point-of-sale systems, activity management systems, and inventory software, to maintain financial and operational records.
  • Develop and manage the annual operating budget and operational work plan; review past performance and forecasts against financial goals; and oversee controls and fee structures to safeguard assets, inventory, and resources.
  • Develop a public relations program and promote, coordinate, and administer marketing plans using social media, radio, print media, and email to support operational profitability.
  • Oversee contractor performance for golf course or tennis court maintenance through meetings and inspection tours to enforce maintenance standards.
  • Coordinate food and beverage needs with the contractor, including food and service quality, on-course service, banquets, outside events, and catering.
  • Schedule staff meetings about customer issues, operations, revenue growth, cost containment, and continuous improvement; and attend leadership meetings with the facility counterpart and food and beverage contractor.
