Requirements
  • Must possess, at minimum, a nursing degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Must have training in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices.
  • Must have 2 or more years of experience, preferably in a long-term care facility.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English, including technical procedures and policy and procedure manuals.
  • Must be able to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Must be able to make independent decisions, solve practical problems, and exercise leadership and supervisory ability.
  • Must possess knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care to residents.
  • Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, and laws, regulations, and guidelines applicable to nursing care facilities.
  • Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a registered nurse in the state.
  • Must hold current CPR certification.
  • Must maintain required continuing education and licensing and remain in good standing with the State Board of Nursing.
  • Must be able to move intermittently, communicate understandably, function independently, and work effectively with residents and personnel.
  • Must be able to push, pull, move, or carry at least 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and for a minimum distance of 50 feet.
  • Must meet the facility's general health requirements, including a medical and physical examination.
  • Must be able to work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and sometimes hostile people.
  • Must be willing to work beyond normal hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary, and be subject to emergency callback.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of resident protected health information and facility information-system credentials.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise the day-to-day nursing activities of the facility during the assigned tour of duty in accordance with applicable standards, guidelines, and regulations.
  • Assist the Director of Nursing Services in directing the day-to-day nursing functions.
  • Develop, maintain, and update written nursing-service policies, procedures, manuals, and job descriptions.
  • Ensure that nursing-service personnel comply with procedures, job descriptions, safety rules, infection-control practices, and applicable regulations.
  • Make written and oral reports and recommendations to the Director concerning nursing-service operations and problem areas.
  • Coordinate nursing services with other resident services to maintain continuity of care.
  • Participate in quality-assurance programs, facility surveys, committee meetings, care-plan meetings, discharge planning, and corrective-action activities.
  • Admit, transfer, and discharge residents, complete accident and incident reports, and complete medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, and charting.
  • Ensure adequate licensed-nurse and certified-nursing-assistant staffing for the assigned shift; develop work assignments and delegate duties to charge nurses.
  • Conduct daily rounds, monitor absenteeism and staffing, review personnel complaints and grievances, and ensure fair administration of disciplinary actions.
  • Participate in employee performance evaluations and recommend staffing changes, dismissals, and transfers to the Director.
  • Inform nursing personnel about new admissions and ensure rooms are ready; greet and escort newly admitted residents as necessary.
  • Make rounds with physicians, encourage timely physician documentation, and report delayed physician visits.
  • Consult with residents, families, and physicians regarding care, treatment, and rehabilitation; notify physicians and next of kin of changes in resident condition.
  • Visit residents daily to observe and evaluate physical and emotional status and provide direct nursing care as necessary.
  • Start intravenous lines, obtain specimens for laboratory testing, take vital signs, monitor seriously ill residents, and monitor medication passes and treatment schedules.
  • Review nurses' notes, medication cards, resident care plans, medical treatments, and nursing treatments for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with orders and resident wishes.
  • Authorize restraints when necessary according to facility policy and ensure proper medication and supply administration, storage, and control.
  • Inspect treatment areas and ensure nursing work areas, resident rooms, and equipment are clean, safe, and sanitary.
  • Ensure residents unable to call for help are checked frequently and assist with transportation for discharged residents.
  • Inform family members of a resident's death and contact funeral homes when requested.
  • Participate in developing and conducting in-service training, clinical supervision for nurse aide trainees, continuing education, and infection-control and safety programs.
  • Ensure appropriate personal protective equipment, safety equipment, hand hygiene, isolation precautions, fire-safety procedures, and disaster-preparedness procedures are followed.
  • Recommend equipment and supply needs, maintain adequate medication and medical-supply stock, and support preventive maintenance and safe equipment operation.
  • Participate in resident assessments and care-plan development, review care plans and nurses' notes, and assist with Minimum Data Set assessments, Resident Assessment Protocols, and triggers.
  • Monitor nursing-supply use, maintain required material safety data sheets, and report suspected fraud or hazardous conditions.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in a long-term care facility is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with PCC is preferred.

PACS Group beats Q1 estimates with $0.50 EPS and $1.42B revenue despite 12.5% year-to-date stock decline

PACS Group acquires Alaska care facility, plans 150-bed skilled nursing centre by 2028

PACS Group has appointed Carey P. Hendrickson as chief financial officer, effective 27 April 2026. Hendrickson brings nearly four decades of financial leadership across healthcare, senior living and media sectors. Most recently, Hendrickson served as CFO of U.S. Physical Therapy, overseeing 779 outpatient clinics across 44 states. He previously held CFO roles at Capital Senior Living Corporation, managing 128 communities across 23 states, and Belo Corp. He succeeds Mark Hancock, PACS's co-founder and executive vice chairman, who will retire by 30 June 2026 whilst remaining on the board as vice chairman. PACS Group has announced that co-founder and chief financial officer Mark Hancock will retire on 30 June 2026. He will continue serving on the company's board of directors as vice chairman. Hancock co-founded PACS in 2013 with Jason Murray, starting with two post-acute care facilities in San Diego. Dr Conway currently serves as CEO of Optum, UnitedHealth Group's health services division with revenues exceeding $200 billion.
