Planned Parenthood reopens abortion Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Planned Parenthood reopens abortion Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. State Bud Shaver | Apr 9, 2026 | 5:07PM | Albuquerque, New Mexico Abortion Free New Mexico (AFNM) is raising concerns following the re-opening of a Planned Parenthood facility in Northeast Albuquerque, which is now providing in-person medical abortions at 9809 Candelaria Rd NE. According to their website, the location is identified as "Northeast Heights Health Center of Albuquerque, NM" and is currently open. At the same address, mapping data and prior listings indicate this site was previously associated with Care Net Pregnancy Center of Albuquerque, a pro-life ministry serving women and families. AFNM says this development reflects a broader shift in New Mexico, where abortion access has expanded rapidly in recent years. REACH PRO-LIFE PEOPLE WORLDWIDE! Advertise with LifeNews to reach hundreds of thousands of pro-life readers every week. Contact Lifenews today. Rapid expansion since Roe v. Wade overturn. In 2022, when Roe v. Wade was overturned: * Albuquerque had 4 abortion facilities * The state had approximately 9 total * Albuquerque now has 7 abortion facilities * New Mexico has 14 free-standing abortion facilities statewide * Additional mail-order abortion pill services are offered remotely through The Satanic Temple. AFNM notes that: * A taxpayer-funded abortion facility is already under construction in Las Cruces, supported by approximately $10 million in state funding approved by the New Mexico Legislature and backed by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham. State leaders have also advanced plans for a second publicly funded facility in Northern New Mexico - with an additional $10 million requested and Farmington identified among the potential locations - though final approval and construction details remain limited. Tara Shaver, spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement: "Since Roe v. Wade was overturned, New Mexico has rapidly positioned itself as a regional destination for abortion, with out-of-state demand driving significant growth in abortion access across our state," Shaver said. "This isn't happening in a vacuum - it is being actively shaped and accelerated by state leadership. While other states are strengthening protections for life, New Mexico's leaders are spearheading a dramatic expansion of abortion infrastructure, including the use of taxpayer dollars." "We are witnessing the normalization of abortion tourism in New Mexico, with policy decisions and public funding working together to turn our state into a hub for abortion access in the region." Oversight and transparency questions remain. Abortion Free New Mexico continues to raise concerns about: * Lack of routine health inspections for abortion facilities * Absence of a specific licensing category for abortion clinics * Limited public reporting on complications and outcomes "If abortion is healthcare, why is it exempt from the same standards applied to other medical facilities?" Shaver added.

LGBTQ+ Health organization convene California state health agencies for TGI community listening session.

LGBTQ+ Health organization convene California state health agencies for TGI community listening session. LOS ANGELES, CA - On March 20, the California LGBTQ Health and Human Services Network, along with TransFamily Support Services, the Trans Latin@ Coalition, and Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California, convened a listening session for key California health agencies to elevate the urgent needs and lived experiences of transgender, gender-diverse, and intersex (TGI) community members seeking gender-affirming care. Representatives from the Department of Health Care Services, the Department of Managed Health Care, California Health and Human Services, and the California Department of Public Health joined the discussion to hear directly from advocates and community members about the growing barriers to accessing care. While gender-affirming care remains protected under California law, ongoing federal actions - including proposed rules from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and executive orders - have created a chilling effect across the healthcare system. Providers and institutions are making preemptive decisions to scale back or discontinue services out of fear and uncertainty. These decisions are already impacting access. The closure of vital services and gender-affirming care clinics at hospitals is a huge concern. Yet many of the most harmful consequences remain less visible - delays in care, inconsistent guidance and communication between providers and pharmacies, and increased difficulty navigating already complex systems. At the same time, harmful misinformation and escalating anti-trans rhetoric are contributing to a broader cultural shift that threatens the safety and well-being of TGI individuals - even in progressive states like California. This climate of fear and stigma disproportionately impacts young people and those already facing systemic barriers to care. "It pains me to see this generation facing many of the same struggles I experienced growing up," stated Dannie Cesena, Director of the CA LGBTQ HHS Network. "We have fought hard to advance and protect these rights, and now we are being called to defend them once again. I'm grateful to our state partners for coming to the table so we can work collectively on concrete strategies to ensure equitable access to care for all." During the session, community members shared firsthand accounts of being failed by the healthcare system - from prescription delays and denials at pharmacies to a lack of coordination between providers - forcing many to navigate life-saving care on their own. At a time when TGI individuals are already experiencing heightened levels of discrimination, stigma, and targeted political attacks, these barriers can have devastating consequences. Everyone's health benefits when the health and rights of Transgender, Gender-diverse, and intersex individuals are respected, treated equitably, and prioritized. Ensuring access to gender-affirming care is not a political issue. Health care is a human right. "Our state health departments heard barely a fraction of the challenges TGI families and youth are navigating every day," stated Kathie Moehlig of TransFamily Support Services. "These agencies have the power and responsibility to uphold California law. We look forward to continuing this work together and developing solutions that meet the urgency of this moment." The organizations plan to host a follow-up discussion with state partners to identify actionable strategies and strengthen accountability in addressing these barriers. The California LGBTQ+ Health & Human Services Network advances and protects the health of 2SLGBTQ+ Californians by mobilizing a statewide coalition of community organizations, providers, researchers, and advocates to shape equitable public policy, strengthen implementation, and drive community-centered systems change. Planned Parenthood closes abortion biz in Washington state.

Planned Parenthood closes abortion biz in Washington state. State Steven Ertelt | Mar 24, 2026 | 1:39PM | Port Angeles, Washington Planned Parenthood will close its health center in Port Angeles, Washington, ending in-person services including abortion at the facility on April 2. The organization announced the closure in a statement released Thursday on its website, citing financial pressures after the defunding bill last year that Congress passed and President Donald Trump signed. "Like many health care organizations, we have faced huge obstacles, from funding cuts to critical programs like Medicaid, to rising care costs. We also know that patient needs and priorities are changing, with more people turning to telemedicine for their health care," the statement said. "Because of this, we are making difficult but necessary adjustments to our health center network. We also made the difficult but necessary decision to close our Port Angeles, WA health center. Thursday, April 2 is our last day to see patients in-person." The abortion giant is shifting to telehealth abortions, where it will mail abortion pills to customers to kill their babies. That has resulted in an explosion of abortions across the country. The Port Angeles facility sold abortion drugs up to 12 weeks of pregnancy and now customers will have to get them from another location in person or via telehealth - which puts women's lives at risk. The closure comes amid a broader wave of Planned Parenthood facility shutdowns. Earlier this week the abortion organization said it will close two centers in Indianapolis, Indiana, effective April 3, consolidating operations at another site there. Pro-life advocates have welcomed the reductions in Planned Parenthood's brick-and-mortar footprint, noting it as part of a continuing national trend of more than 50 permanent closures related to defunding.

Indiana abortions drop from 1,979 to 26 as abortion ban saves babies.

Indiana abortions drop from 1,979 to 26 as abortion ban saves babies. State Steven Ertelt | Mar 24, 2026 | 9:07AM | Indianapolis, Indiana Indiana's protective abortion ban is successfully saving unborn babies, with reported abortions plummeting to just 26 in the final three months of 2025 - down dramatically from 1,979 in the same quarter of 2021 before the law took full effect. That's according to new data from the Indiana Department of Health. The department released its abortion report for October through December 2025 on February 28, revealing the lowest quarterly abortion total in recent years. That's good news and means babies are being saved from abortions. There are still out of state companies mailing abortion pills to Indiana, and some women go to neighboring states for abortions. But even if the Indiana abortion ban saves just one baby, that's worth celebrating. Of the 26 abortions that still occurred, 31% involved the drugs misoprostol and/or mifepristone, while 69% were surgical procedures. Eight of the abortions, or 31%, took place after 21 weeks of gestation on viable babies. Eighteen, or 69%, were done at Riley Health Maternity Tower. Fifteen, or 58%, were listed as involving a "lethal fetal anomaly" - although prenatal testing is often wrong. The figures continue a steep decline since the state enacted its ban protecting unborn children. Comparable quarterly totals were 1,724 abortions in the fourth quarter of 2022, 46 in 2023, 39 in 2024, and now just 26 in 2025. A separate complications report documented 15 abortion-related complications filed during the period. The most common was "incomplete" abortion - in which a baby's body parts were left inside the mother - with 11 cases reported. Other complications included infection and bleeding. Some women required blood transfusions, additional surgical intervention or hospital admission. Of the complications, 11, or 73%, were linked to abortion drugs, including cases involving drugs received by mail order. The strong results come as Planned Parenthood announced it will close two Indianapolis abortion centers - the Midtown and Southside clinics - on April 3, consolidating operations at its Georgetown Health Center following federal defunding of the abortion organization. The positive trend persists despite an ongoing legal challenge to the ban. Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita has appealed a March 5 Marion County Superior Court ruling by Judge Christina R. Klineman that issued a permanent injunction against the ban, claiming it violates the state's Religious Freedom Restoration Act by interfering with what the judge described as a religious right to abortion. A spokesman for Attorney General Rokita said: "We disagree with the court's decision and have already appealed. As we have with every challenge against our pro-life law, we'll continue fighting to protect the lives of the unborn." Indiana Right to Life President and CEO Mike Fichter condemned the ruling, stating: "For the court to rule that taking the life of an unborn child is an exercise of religious freedom is deeply distressing - and a perversion of the law's intent. Indiana's Religious Freedom Restoration Act was never intended to equate taking the life of an unborn child with religious expression in our state." The Indiana Department of Health reports are based on mandatory submissions from abortionists. The data reflect only abortions reported as occurring in Indiana. condom couture for a cause: ready or hot fashion show with one(r) condoms & planned parenthood.

condom couture for a cause: ready or hot fashion show with one(r) condoms & planned parenthood. * Mar 20, 2026 * by ONE Condoms When fashion, community, and reproductive rights come together, the result is more than just a runway show, it's a powerful statement. That's exactly what happened when ONE(R) partnered with Planned Parenthood North Central States for their annual Ready or Hot fundraiser, a one-of-a-kind fashion show that celebrated body diversity, creative expression, and the ongoing fight for reproductive freedom. Community-Driven change: raising $80,000 for reproductive freedom. Hosted at the legendary First Avenue in Minneapolis, the annual Ready or Hot event welcomed more than 200 attendees from across the Twin Cities community. Together, supporters helped raise an incredible $80,000 to support essential services including sexual and reproductive health care, medically accurate sex education, innovative research, and advocacy for reproductive rights. Events like this highlight how community-driven fundraising can directly impact access to care while fostering awareness, inclusivity, and empowerment. While it's technically a fashion show, Ready or Hot is everything but traditional. Designers are challenged to push boundaries of their creativity by incorporating real external condoms into wearable works of art, transforming latex into bold into conversation-starting fashion. This signature element is often referred to as condom couture. This emphasis on inclusivity isn't just a theme - it's a core value. Planned Parenthood North Central States is committed to creating spaces that are welcoming, affirming, and reflective of the communities they serve. Ready or Hot embodies that mission by ensuring that every attendee, participant, and supporter feels seen and represented, both on and off the runway. Events like this help break down barriers and foster a sense of belonging, which is critical when discussing topics like sexual health and reproductive rights. MH Style Consulting, longtime collaborators of the event, played a key role in bringing the runway vision to life. Known for curating dynamic and expressive looks, they partnered with local creatives to ensure the show reflected the energy and diversity of the Twin Cities community. For this year's event, they introduced the Minneapolis-based design team No Reason, who led the creation of the featured condom couture look. One of the most anticipated elements of Ready or Hot is the condom couture. This is the signature moment where condoms are transformed into wearable art. Rather than showcasing multiple looks, this year's show featured a single custom-designed piece, created exclusively for the event. To bring this vision to life, the design team worked closely with drag performer Domita Sanchez, known for her bold stage presence and incredible energy. More than latex: the evolution of condom couture. Every condom donated for designing by ONE(R) Condoms was used in the creation of the garment, highlighting both the scale of the design and level of craftsmanship involved. The collaborative process between the designers and the model ensured that the final look wasn't just visually striking, it was a true reflection of identity, creativity, and expression. If you've been following along with its past community stories, you'll know ONE(R) has a long history with Ready or Hot. In previous years, Onecondoms has highlighted events like Ready or Hot: They Struttin' and Ready or Hot: Fashion Meets Passion, showing how this event has grown into one of the Twin Cities' most inclusive and spirited fundraisers. These blogs tell past stories of artistry, community, and activism intertwined; perfect reflections of what Ready or Hot is all about. Beyond the runway, ONE(R) helped enhance the evening message of sexual health empowerment by also providing ONE(R) Flex(R) condom matchbooks and custom co-branded condom carrying cases featuring the ONE(R) and Ready or Hot logo. These giveaways were available throughout the venue in high-traffic areas at the event, encouraging guests to pick up safer-sex supplies and helping normalize condom conversations in a fun approachable way. Interested in designing your own condom carrying case? Design yours here! Making condoms visible and accessible is a key part of how ONE(R) continues to advance sexual wellbeing one fashion show, concert, festival or community event at a time. These efforts are rooted in the understanding that sexual health education doesn't only happen in clinics or classrooms; it also happens in safe spaces where people feel inspired, connected, and open to new ideas. By meeting people where they are, ONE(R) helps bridge the gap between awareness and action. Ready or Hot brings together people of all shapes, sizes, genders, ages, and backgrounds. That diversity is one of the show's greatest strengths and one of the reasons community members keep coming back year after year. At its heart it's a fundraiser, but it's also a catalyst. It's a space where celebration meets advocacy and joy fuels purpose. That energy doesn't dim when the runway lights dim. It carried into conversations sparked that evening, the connections made between attendees and continued impact on access to care and education. Events like Ready or Hot show how powerful it can be when the community comes together not just to celebrate, but to support something bigger than themselves. ONE(R) is proud to stand alongside Planned Parenthood North Central States for another year hosting an event that uplifted voices, celebrated expression, and advanced conversations around sexual health and reproductive rights. The success of Ready or Hot year after year is a testament to what's possible when creativity, community, and purpose come together. And this impact will continue far beyond the single night. From the Twin Cities to your town: launch your own Project Condom. This partnership is part of ONE(R) Project Condom, a program launched by ONE(R) in 2008 that empowers organizations, student groups, and individuals to host condom fashion shows in their own communities.
