Requirements
  • A master's degree in a behavioral science field from an accredited college or university.
  • Demonstrate competencies to become credentialed as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) under Oregon Administrative Rules, with current certification compliant with those rules and meeting MHACBO credentialing requirements.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and 42 CFR regulations.
  • Ability to conduct a Mental Status assessment and formulate a diagnosis according to the most current DSM.
  • Advanced knowledge of risk assessment and crisis intervention.
  • Understanding of evidence-based practices and strength-based case management philosophies and strategies, including trauma-informed care.
  • Ability to operate computer hardware and software needed to perform job functions, including Electronic Health Record software.
  • Ability to travel to multiple locations throughout the Portland Metro area.
  • Ability to perform CPR and properly use AED equipment. Client-facing staff must complete BLS certification training within 60 days of hire; other staff must complete CPR certification training within 120 days. Certification must remain current.
  • Comply with and implement applicable regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Follow emergency protocols and procedures when assisting in crisis situations.
  • Document and maintain electronic health and ancillary records in compliance with agency policies, program procedures, and local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Understand fire regulations and evacuation procedures and participate in regular safety drills.
  • Adhere to federal alcohol and drug information regulations under 42 CFR Part 2, mandatory abuse reporting laws, and HIPAA client-confidentiality regulations.
  • Complete annual employee training requirements on time.
  • Participate in scheduled staff meetings, supervision sessions, and other departmental and agency meetings.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential harm to self or others using clinical interviews and relevant collateral information.
  • Evaluate intervention options by outlining potential outcomes, risks, and benefits, and document the rationale for clinical decisions.
  • Provide on-site crisis response, risk assessment, and safety planning for adults and children in Multnomah County experiencing mental health crises.
  • Coordinate care with internal team members, including supervisors, program managers, and medical directors, and collaborate with external service providers throughout Multnomah County to support crisis response and stabilization.
  • Provide assessment dispositions to treatment providers and emergency departments, ensuring timely and accurate communication of clinical findings.
  • Initiate involuntary holds when clinically appropriate and complete required legal and clinical documentation.
  • Provide information, support, and linkage to mental health treatment and other social services to promote ongoing stabilization and care engagement.
  • Perform crisis assessments, complete enrollment paperwork, and ensure documentation meets organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Apply Feedback Informed Treatment (FIT) practices in alignment with Cascadia and program-level implementation.
  • Contribute to a culture of cooperation, respectful communication, and mutual trust; collaborate across interdisciplinary teams by sharing ideas, skills, and knowledge to achieve common goals.
  • Support an environment that combines differing perspectives and experiences to generate solutions.
  • Maintain a respectful work environment where decisions are transparent and objective, and contribute to organizational accountability and a positive culture.
  • Manage personal emotions while respecting others' emotional expressions and communication styles, adapting interactions to support interpersonal effectiveness and self-awareness.
  • Contribute positively to a work environment that values all individuals and recognize the feelings and intentions of others in social situations.
  • Promote community safety through prevention, education, and awareness, and help identify and prevent workplace safety issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
