About the job
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector certification is required.
- Nondestructive testing certifications are preferred, such as ASNT Level II in ultrasonic testing, magnetic testing, penetrant testing, or radiographic testing.
- Three to five years of relevant field experience in structural welding inspection and nondestructive testing on construction projects is required.
- Working knowledge of the International Building Code, AWS D1.1, ASTM standards, and applicable local building codes is required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and proficiency with inspection reporting and field documentation are required.
- A valid driver's license, reliable transportation, ability to travel to job sites, and ability to work outdoors in varied conditions are required.
- Perform welding and fabrication inspections, including visual and nondestructive testing, according to approved procedures, codes, and project specifications.
- Conduct ultrasonic, magnetic particle, penetrant, and visual testing according to applicable standards and company protocols.
- Inspect structural steel, connections, bolting, and related welding activities during fabrication and on-site erection.
- Provide special inspections for shop and field welding, structural framing, seismic hold-downs, and other code-required items.
- Generate clear and accurate inspection reports, field logs, and nonconformance reports in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and engineers to resolve inspection issues and ensure code compliance.
- Maintain calibration and documentation for nondestructive testing equipment and test instruments.
- Follow safety procedures and maintain professional conduct on job sites.
- Experience with reinforced concrete inspection, bolting inspection, and other special inspection disciplines.
- Familiarity with digital reporting tools and construction management software.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 and other safety training.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
