Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) in good standing on the Ohio Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry is required.
  • No prior experience is required; on-the-job training is provided.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Must be able to lift, transfer, push, or pull residents, patients, or equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must work weekends, evenings, and holidays as scheduled.
  • The role is subject to falls, equipment burns, odors, cuts, residents and patients with various disease processes, and exposure to infectious waste and diseases, including AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
  • The role has Risk Category I exposure to bloodborne diseases.
Responsibilities
  • Provide daily resident and patient care in accordance with nursing procedures and Charge Nurse instructions.
  • Maintain each resident's or patient's Plan of Care.
  • Provide assigned Activities of Daily Living, including personal hygiene, elimination, comfort and safety, ambulation, lifting, skin care, nutrition, and hydration.
  • Assist with care of dying residents and provide post-mortem care.
  • Observe and report pressure areas and skin breakdown.
  • Assist with nursing treatments as required.
  • Provide rehabilitative and restorative procedures as required.
  • Maintain a warm, calm, and personally attentive environment throughout the unit.
  • Answer resident calls promptly.
  • Check rooms for medications and unauthorized food items and report findings to the Charge Nurse.
  • Maintain resident and patient rooms, work areas, and equipment in a clean, sanitary, and safe manner.
  • Follow established infection control and standard precautions and immediately report hazardous conditions to the Charge Nurse.
  • Attend care conferences as directed by the Charge Nurse.
  • Attend all-employee and departmental meetings and scheduled or directed in-service training.
  • Share observations and operational insights that may improve departmental quality and efficiency.
  • Measure and record entries such as Activities of Daily Living coding, intake and output, temperatures, and weight in the electronic medical record or as directed by the Charge Nurse.
  • Report changes in residents' or patients' conditions to the Charge Nurse as soon as practical.
  • Report concerns and complaints voiced or shared by residents, patients, or family members.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
