Requirements
  • At least 8 years of experience in IT infrastructure and/or security, including at least 2 years leading teams, ideally at a mid-sized company with 500–2,000 employees and multiple international sites.
  • Hands-on expertise in enterprise networking, including routing, VPN, firewalls, segmentation, Wi-Fi, and server virtualization.
  • Practical experience building or running a security program at a company without a large dedicated security team, including endpoint detection and response, identity, vulnerability management, and incident response.
  • A service-oriented approach to measuring IT service quality and leading a help desk.
  • Ability to design team staffing and sourcing models, select and negotiate with managed service providers, and hold them accountable.
  • Ability to translate technical risk into clear business decisions for executives and write clear policies, runbooks, and recommendations.
  • Experience with frameworks such as NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ISO 27001, or SOC 2, and IT general controls in an audit-ready environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of seven across network, systems, help desk, and cybersecurity; set priorities, build technical leadership, and develop the team’s automation and scripting skills.
  • Own the Cisco Meraki network estate across four countries, including SD-WAN, site-to-site VPN, firewalls, segmentation, Wi-Fi, ISP circuits, cloud VPN tunnels, remote access, and connectivity and compliance requirements for operations in China.
  • Define and drive an infrastructure and security roadmap balancing reliability, risk, cost, and user experience, and communicate it to executive leadership.
  • Own on-premises compute using Proxmox and its services, including lifecycle, patching, monitoring, backups, tested restores, disaster recovery, and decisions about on-premises, cloud, or SaaS deployment.
  • Own the cybersecurity program, including policy, risk register, vulnerability and patch management, endpoint protection, email and SaaS security, logging, data loss prevention, incident detection, response runbooks, and exercises.
  • Decide how the team is staffed and which services to build internally or source from managed service and security partners, and hold those partners accountable to scope and service-level agreements.
  • Own joiner, mover, and leaver processes; single sign-on and multifactor authentication; privileged and break-glass access; and administrator hygiene across Google Workspace and core SaaS, maintaining an audit-ready evidence trail.
  • Ensure a fast, measurable help desk for approximately 800 employees, covering ticket service-level agreements, onboarding and offboarding, laptop lifecycle and mobile device management, conference rooms and audiovisual support, and site support; personally handle the hardest escalations.
  • Replace manual repeatable work with automation and AI-assisted workflows across provisioning, monitoring, ticket triage, and reporting.
  • Own the infrastructure and security vendor portfolio and budget, including contracts, renewals, licensing, hardware refresh plans, and build/buy/partner decisions.
  • Maintain current diagrams, inventories, runbooks, and on-call and escalation coverage to prevent systems from depending on one person’s knowledge.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with Cisco Meraki, Proxmox, CrowdStrike, Google Workspace, and Cloudflare.
  • Experience operating IT in China, including cross-border connectivity, local regulations, and remote-site support.
  • Familiarity with GCP and AWS security fundamentals, including identity and access management, logging, and network controls.
  • Scripting and automation skills using Python, PowerShell, Terraform, or similar, and hands-on use of AI tools in IT or security operations.
  • Security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CCNP Security.
  • Experience in a hardware or manufacturing company with research and development labs and lab networks.

Formlabs launches $699 Form Studio 1, its first consumer 3D printer

Formlabs has launched the Form Studio 1, its first 3D printer aimed at consumers. It costs $699 and is on sale now. The printer uses SLA (stereolithography) resins, which harden into solid plastic under ultraviolet light. It accepts Formlabs-branded or third-party resins, with individual bottles starting at $29. Formlabs has nearly 200,000 printers in service, mostly with professional customers such as assembly shops and dentists who can pay $2,500 or more. Its last affordable model cost $2,300. The Studio 1 takes up about as much space as a minifridge. Users will likely also need a $199 wash unit, which removes uncured resin from models, plus room for tools and resin cartridges. Chief product officer David Lakatos said: "It doesn't take a lot of space. If you have a desk, then I think you should be good to go.

Formlabs gains Chinese 3D printing fund as strategic investor amid $500M IPO talks

Chinese investment fund Concord AM Capital announced it has become a strategic investor in 3D printing company Formlabs. The partnership aims to support Formlabs' expansion across China and the broader Asia-Pacific market. Concord AM Capital specialises in additive manufacturing and counts UnionTech, Anisoprint, and RAYSHAPE amongst its portfolio companies. The fund's investment director Shen Wang published the announcement on LinkedIn, tagging several Formlabs executives including founder and CEO Maxim Lobovsky. Formlabs has not officially confirmed the transaction. The company already manufactures its 3D printers in China and operates an office in Shenzhen. Shenzhen Capital Group has been a Formlabs investor since 2018. The news follows Formlabs' recent appointment of former Apple executive Dan Riccio as adviser and investor, and Bloomberg reports of preliminary discussions about a potential IPO.
