Requirements
  • 8-10 years of experience in major gift leadership, with a proven track record of success.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member and independently.
  • Mastery of EveryAction and DonorSearch to build and manage prospect lists.
  • Experience using wealth screening to inform cultivation and solicitation strategies.
  • Ability to write compelling, donor-centric copy that triggers immediate action.
  • Comfort using data to pivot strategies and prove return on investment.
Responsibilities
  • Cultivate, steward, and grow the mid-level donor and sustainer programs annually.
  • Provide a high-touch experience for mid-tier donors through personal phone calls, custom impact updates, and exclusive event invitations.
  • Prepare and transition top-tier donors to the Senior Director of Individual Giving once they reach the organization’s highest capacity thresholds.
  • Monitor interactions, including email open rates and event attendance, in EveryAction to prioritize outreach.
  • Use DonorSearch to perform real-time wealth screening and philanthropic propensity modeling on the current database.
  • Conduct discovery outreach to determine whether a donor has the inclination and capacity for a significant gift upgrade.
  • Serve as the primary filter for the Major Gifts team by moving warm, qualified leads into high-touch portfolios.
  • Launch automated email journeys in EveryAction that trigger recurring giving asks based on donor behavior.
  • Manage payment failures and expired cards to protect predictable cash flow.
  • Execute data-driven campaigns encouraging monthly donors to increase their commitment or transition to an annual leadership gift.
  • Manage the identity and perks of monthly sustainers to foster loyalty.
  • Lead the creative direction for high-volume appeals, including Year-End and Giving Tuesday campaigns, across mail, email, and SMS.
  • Maintain meticulous data entry in EveryAction to ensure no prospect falls through the cracks.
  • Supervise the Senior Development Associate.
  • Travel to staff retreats and other work meetings approximately one to four times per year when applicable.
