Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of four years of construction industry experience, including at least two years in a project management role on heavy civil projects.
  • Proficiency in construction management software and tools, including project scheduling software such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project and project management platforms such as Procore or similar.
  • Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record, with the ability to travel to job sites throughout Utah (travel may be required).
  • Solid understanding of construction methods, civil engineering principles, concrete work, and industry best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills to liaise with project teams, clients, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Commitment to safety and knowledge of safety and environmental regulations in construction.
Responsibilities
  • Develop comprehensive project plans and construction schedules to meet contract milestones and client expectations.
  • Manage project budgets, forecast costs, and control expenditures; track project financial performance and approve invoices and change orders; take corrective actions to ensure profitability and cost control.
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate the project team including Project Engineers, Superintendents, and field crews; foster a culture of safety, accountability, and collaboration.
  • Select and oversee subcontractors and suppliers; negotiate subcontracts, manage subcontractor performance, and ensure work aligns with project specifications, quality standards, and schedules.
  • Handle all aspects of contract administration and documentation; prepare, submit, and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, and progress payments; maintain project records for regulatory compliance.
  • Enforce the safety program and champion a safety-first mentality on every job site; ensure compliance with OSHA standards, company safety policies, and environmental regulations; conduct safety meetings and inspections.
  • Implement and oversee quality assurance/quality control plans for concrete work and other project components; verify construction work meets design specifications and DOT requirements.
  • Serve as the primary contact for project owners, DOT officials, engineers, and other stakeholders; provide regular status updates and conduct project meetings; manage client relations.
  • Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies; solve field issues and design discrepancies in coordination with engineers and project team members.
  • Oversee project closeout, final inspections, punch lists, and as-built documentation; ensure smooth handover to client; capture lessons learned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with Department of Transportation/public infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with DOT project procedures, specifications, and standards.
  • Experience with heavy civil projects in highways and bridges beyond basic requirements.
  • Advanced proficiency with Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project and Procore, or equivalent platforms.
