Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • A high school degree or equivalent is required.
  • Candidates must meet any state or local licensure and other legal requirements related to the position.
  • Previous retail and/or loss prevention experience is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to lead and hold others accountable.
  • Ability to communicate on multiple-frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology equipment as directed.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
  • Ability to access all areas of the building, interpret instructions, reports and information, climb ladders, apprehend subjects according to company policy, and scan, handle, and safely move merchandise, including frequently lifting or moving up to 40 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays; reliable and prompt attendance is required.
  • Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the store's security culture, including crisis response, safety, and crowd-management planning.
  • Implement daily and weekly Assets Protection workload priorities.
  • Respond to internal and external theft incidents and prevent future theft.
  • Implement strategic resolutions for external theft and fraud and conduct apprehensions according to policy.
  • Partner with, educate, and support store business leaders on operational shortage priorities.
  • Lead hourly team members, including interviewing, developing, evaluating, and retaining talent.
  • Deliver guest experience commitments and ensure team members understand, are trained in, and consistently deliver those commitments and consistent operations.
  • Observe team members, provide feedback, hold them accountable, and recognize strong guest-experience performance.
  • Review guest, financial, and team outcome metrics, identify opportunities, take action, and align the team on execution.
  • Support store sales and profitability by ensuring products are in stock and available.
  • Influence and validate physical-security and safety processes, participate in emergency crisis response, and create security plans for in-store events.
  • Educate teams on emergency preparedness and physical-security procedures.
  • Develop, coach, and lead team members to improve their skills and expertise.
  • Anticipate staffing needs and support talent planning through clear expectations and performance management.
  • Identify theft and shortage trends and develop tactics to reduce shortage and drive profitable sales.
  • Work schedules aligned with guest and business needs, including early morning, overnight, evening, and weekend shifts.
  • Develop team schedules and adjust them based on security and theft trends with leader validation.
  • Own prevention, identification, and resolution of external theft incidents, including merchandise-protection budgeting and policy-compliant apprehensions.
  • Initiate, investigate, and resolve internal investigations as directed by Assets Protection and store leaders.
  • Educate store leadership on merchandise-protection best practices and audit execution.
  • Order merchandise-protection devices, manage the allocated budget, and follow merchandise-protection best practices.
  • Communicate Assets Protection priorities to the team, peers, and leadership.
  • Maintain relationships with district and store leaders, law enforcement, and other internal and external partners.
  • Analyze industry trends and collaborate with retail partners to enhance security.
  • Evaluate candidates for open positions and develop a guest-centric team.
  • Support team onboarding and learning and close knowledge and skill gaps through training and experience.
  • Demonstrate and enforce ethical conduct, compliance, inclusivity, and accountability.
  • Maintain required training.
  • Serve as first responder for in-store safety incidents and execute safety procedures and best practices.
  • Lead safety culture activities, including correcting hazards, incident response, and timely injury reporting and investigation.
  • Execute safety-program routines such as monthly safety meetings and observations.
  • Participate in legal proceedings as necessary to represent Target's interests.
  • Model physical-security processes and support merchandise-protection strategies across the store.
  • Address store needs, including emergencies and regulatory visits.
  • Perform other duties based on business needs.
