His first major move toward diversification came in 1967 with the acquisition of National Indemnity Company for $8.6 million, marking Berkshire's entry into the insurance industry.From 1969 to 1979, those early shareholder meetings were indeed held in National Indemnity's lunchroom, with attendance rarely exceeding two dozen people.
