Requirements
  • At least 10 years of experience in an academic setting is strongly preferred, with a national reputation.
  • Proven experience implementing large-scale initiatives and behavioral change across an enterprise.
  • Experience utilizing process improvement approaches and methods to achieve desired outcomes.
  • A Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or equivalent degree with recent clinical practice and board certification is strongly preferred.
  • Must be licensed or eligible for a license in Louisiana.

  • Demonstrated success synthesizing and presenting complex ideas to individuals at all levels of an organization.
  • Demonstrated success utilizing metrics to evaluate and improve systems.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with clinical staff and quality improvement leadership to develop a structure aligned with the organization’s quality, safety, and patient experience agenda.
  • Provide structured leadership to departmental professionals to foster growth, development, communication, and innovation.
  • Participate in the development, monitoring, reporting, and improvement of activities related to assigned service lines with clinical staff, service chiefs, and administration.
  • Foster and maintain collaborative relationships with external agencies, purchasers, and stakeholders related to quality and performance initiatives.
  • Review and evaluate services affected by medical safety and regulatory issues, make recommendations for improvement, and monitor implementation and results.
  • Educate leadership and medical staff about regulatory issues, new statutes and guidelines, and medical safety and performance improvement activities.
  • Serve as a resource for medical safety, regulatory, and performance improvement issues and participate in accreditation-related activities.
  • Lead the development of policies and procedures related to quality improvement and medical safety and participate as a stakeholder in policy development.
  • Develop long-range goals, annual objectives, budgets, and strategies for areas of responsibility.
  • Measure and review system performance.
  • Provide input into major capital expenses related to quality, including information systems.
  • Ensure compliance with laws, government regulations, Joint Commission requirements, and Ochsner policies.
  • Generate and support programs that use imaging screening for early detection of diseases and disorders.
  • Represent the department in activities related to quality improvement, health practice, and population health management.
  • Collaborate with and lead team members in a matrixed environment to improve quality, safety, outcomes, and value.
  • Establish performance goals and metrics for team members, develop and mentor team members, and build a performance management process with the Health System Quality Department.
  • Benchmark system performance against leading academic health systems and implement process or system improvements to increase quality, productivity, and healthcare delivery efficiency.

Ochsner Health has partnered with Joy 101, a well-being platform founded by Emmy Award-winning journalist Hoda Kotb, to provide nearly 40,000 employees with free access to personalised wellness content. The Louisiana-based nonprofit health system is the first employer and first health system in the US to partner with Joy 101. The platform offers short, flexible wellness experiences under 10 minutes, covering meditation, breathwork, sleep, movement and personal growth. Content is curated by Kotb and led by experts including Harvard professor Arthur Brooks and NYU professor Suzy Welch. "Our team members show up every day with expertise, compassion and purpose," said Pete November, chief executive officer at Ochsner Health. Cognito Therapeutics and Ochsner Health launch Gulf South brain health collaboratory for Alzheimer's care

Cognito Therapeutics has partnered with Ochsner Health to launch a Brain Health Collaboratory in the Gulf South, advancing new care models for Alzheimer's disease. The collaboration will combine Cognito's investigational Spectris technology with Ochsner's clinical network across Louisiana, Mississippi and surrounding areas. The partnership will develop a Brain Health Index to track cognitive health and disease progression whilst exploring integration of Spectris therapy into clinical care. The collaboratory will also examine coverage pathways for dual-eligible Medicare and Medicaid populations. Spectris, which received FDA Breakthrough Device Designation in 2021, delivers synchronised light and sound stimulation for at-home use. It is currently being evaluated in the HOPE Trial. This marks Cognito's second Brain Health Collaboratory, following a November 2025 launch with West Virginia University's Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute.

Ochsner Health has secured $46 million in development funding for a new orthopedic and sports medicine complex in New Orleans. This is part of a $300 million joint venture development pipeline for healthcare properties, involving Catalyst Healthcare Real Estate and Heitman. The complex will be operated in partnership with the NFL's New Orleans Saints, NBA's Pelicans, and Andrews Medicine.
