Requirements
  • Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school with 10 years of overall experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in Quality Control focused on American Society of Mechanical Engineers B31 piping codes, industrial and commercial construction, fabrication, welding, and non-destructive testing.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience leading and managing direct reports.
  • Proficient understanding of American Society of Mechanical Engineers Section IX Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.
  • Experience creating and reviewing welding procedures and welder or brazer qualifications.
  • Ability to interpret data, analyze results, and perform mathematical calculations involving proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volume, algebra, and geometry.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds and perform physical tasks including reaching, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Ability to travel to regional branch offices and job sites based on business needs.
  • Availability to work eight hours per day starting between 6:00 am and 7:00 am, with occasional overtime.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the Quality Assurance and Quality Control Project Team, setting expectations and coaching direct reports including Quality Control Inspectors.
  • Ensure the First-in Inspection process reduces risk and minimizes costs related to fabrication and installation errors.
  • Audit the execution of the Project Specific Quality Control Plan to ensure adherence to company Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Project Management Team and the General Contractor’s Quality Assurance Manager for inspection planning, project compliance, and non-conformance management.
  • Perform quality engineering reviews of design documentation, vendor quality manuals, and company quality records for compliance.
  • Apply statistical process control methods to analyze data and evaluate process changes.
  • Review purchased products or components to determine acceptance and provide input on future vendor purchases.
  • Document all quality assurance activities and data consistent with company policies and procedures.
  • Communicate significant quality issues or developments to management and provide recommended process improvements.
  • Prepare and present technical reports and program information to team members and management.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of government and industry quality assurance codes and standards.
  • Develop new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities.
Desired Qualifications
  • Current certification in accordance with American Welding Society QC-1 as a Senior Certified Welding Inspector (SCWI) or Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
  • International Code Council Mechanical Commercial Certification.
