  • Ability to meet the stated physical demands, including frequent standing, walking, handling, reaching, bending, lifting, and occasional climbing or carrying loads over 100 pounds, is required.
  • Ability to hear emergency sounds, intercoms, and equipment sounds; use vision, smell, taste, and touch; and wear required personal protective equipment is required.
  • A pre-employment background and drug screening is required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide customer service by greeting and assisting customers and responding professionally to inquiries and complaints.
  • Monitor sales activities to ensure satisfactory customer service and quality merchandise.
  • Assign employees to specific duties and direct and supervise employees performing sales, inventory, cash-reconciliation, and customer-service work.
  • Inventory stock, reorder merchandise when inventory reaches specified levels, and share responsibility for controlling store inventory.
  • Maintain records of purchases, sales, requisitions, employee schedules, time cards, markups, markdowns, spoilage, store use, payroll, and other store operations.
  • Enforce safety, health, security, and company policies and procedures.
  • Inspect merchandise received or purchased for resale, including product condition, pricing, display, and functionality.
  • Hire, train, evaluate, recruit, interview, promote, demote, and terminate personnel when appropriate, in coordination with the store manager.
  • Perform subordinate work such as cleaning and organizing shelves and displays and selling merchandise.
  • Establish and implement departmental policies, goals, objectives, and procedures.
  • Instruct staff on handling difficult and complicated sales.
  • Formulate merchandise pricing policies according to profitability requirements.
  • Estimate consumer demand and determine the types and quantities of goods to be sold.
  • Plan and prepare work schedules and monitor employee attendance and time records.
  • Review inventory and sales records and prepare reports for management and budget departments.
  • Operate shifts within company guidelines to achieve sales and profit objectives.
  • Assist the store manager with employee measurement, evaluation, corrective action, recruiting, hiring, training, discipline, and termination.
  • Assist the store manager with employee productivity, communication, supervision, policy compliance, and training of new employees.
  • Assist the store manager with sales and profit objectives, goal setting, planning, expense control, company-property maintenance, and store operations.
  • Develop and maintain records, work schedules, customer-service standards, loss-prevention practices, and knowledge of local competition.
  • Handle customer complaints and properly display merchandise to maximize profits.
  • Record sales at the time of purchase and accurately enter daily sales information when the store manager is absent.
  • Prepare end-of-week and end-of-year reports or ensure that trained employees complete them accurately and on time.
  • Advise the store manager or supervisor of personnel situations and policy violations affecting store operations.
  • Monitor bank deposits, maintain a low cash drawer, use the safe as instructed, and complete shift-checkout reports.
  • Enforce vendor check-in procedures.
  • Keep the safe locked and maintain coolers, shelves, and displays fully stocked and fronted.
  • Clean and maintain store equipment, prepare and maintain perishable foods, and build and maintain sellable displays.
  • Clean the parking lot and surrounding grounds, sweep and mop floors, dust shelves, remove trash, and unload stock trucks.
  • Assume full responsibility for store operations in the store manager’s absence and perform additional assigned tasks.
