  • Strong business acumen with the ability to translate technical platform capabilities into measurable business outcomes
  • Excellent communication skills with experience influencing across product, finance, legal, and executive audiences
  • Deep background in distributed systems, cloud-native architecture, and platform engineering at scale (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
  • Hands-on expertise or strong working knowledge in at least two of the five Bridge domains: billing/payments, identity and access management, data engineering, developer infrastructure, or platform operations
  • Experience with billing and subscription management systems (Stripe, OpenMeter, Chargebee, or similar) and the operational complexity of running them in production
  • Familiarity with enterprise IAM concepts including SSO, SAML, OIDC, RBAC, and policy enforcement at scale
  • Proficiency in modern programming languages (Go, Python, Java, or similar) and cloud data technologies
  • Deep understanding of subscription billing, usage-based pricing, and enterprise contract management
  • Working knowledge of revenue recognition principles, financial controls, and compliance frameworks (SOX, PCI DSS)
  • Experience navigating international billing requirements, tax compliance, and data residency obligations
  • Familiarity with B2B SaaS business models, developer-focused products, and enterprise procurement dynamics
  • Experience at high-growth developer tools, infrastructure software, or open-source companies
  • Background running platform engineering teams that serve both internal and external consumers
  • Experience with container technologies, Kubernetes, or cloud-native development ecosystems
  • Track record of successful large-scale system migrations or platform modernization programs
  • Experience scaling an engineering organization through rapid company growth or significant product expansion
  • Docker considers visa sponsorship on a case-by-case basis based on business needs
Responsibilities
  • Define and own the long-term technical strategy for Bridge including Billing, IAM, Data, Operations, and Platform Infrastructure. You will partner with your Product team to ensure alignment with Docker's product roadmap and company growth objectives.
  • Operate as a strategic partner to executive leadership, proactively identifying platform capabilities and constraints that shape product and business decisions.
  • Anticipate infrastructure needs 12–18 months ahead of product demand, initiating foundational work before the business surfaces the requirement.
  • Drive cross-functional initiatives to unlock new business models, pricing strategies, compliance requirements, and enterprise go-to-market motions.
  • Establish Bridge platform as a durable competitive advantage through reliability, developer self-service, and enterprise flexibility.
  • Architect and oversee development of scalable, highly available infrastructure spanning billing and subscription management, identity and access management, data pipelines, and core platform services.
  • Lead technical decisions around build vs. buy, vendor selection, and platform integration strategies across all five domains.
  • Ensure platform supports complex enterprise requirements including multi-seat licensing, usage-based billing, SSO/SAML/OIDC, granular policy hierarchies, and sophisticated financial reporting.
  • Champion engineering excellence: API-first design, zero-trust security posture, microservices architecture, and cloud-native operational practices.
  • Own end-to-end reliability, driving 99.9%+ uptime across billing-critical and identity-critical systems.
  • Lead and grow a high-performing organization of 30+ engineers and managers across Billing, IAM, Data, Operations, and Platform Infrastructure.
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence, psychological safety, and deep customer empathy across all Bridge teams.
  • Mentor engineering managers and senior ICs, developing the next generation of technical leadership within the organization.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to recruit top-tier engineering talent across a competitive market.
  • Establish robust operational practices ensuring platform reliability, security, and compliance across all Bridge systems.
  • Implement comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and incident response procedures, with clear SLAs and escalation paths.
  • Drive compliance initiatives including SOX, PCI DSS, GDPR, and evolving international tax and data residency requirements.
  • Define and track success metrics across all five domains, creating transparency with stakeholders and leadership.
  • Collaborate with Product Management to translate business requirements into durable platform capabilities rather than one-off solutions.
  • Work with Finance to ensure accurate revenue recognition, billing operations, and forecasting capabilities at scale.
  • Partner with Sales and Customer Success to enable complex enterprise deal structures, custom contracts, and customer-specific billing requirements.
  • Support Marketing and Growth teams with experimentation infrastructure for pricing, packaging, and conversion optimization.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience at high-growth developer tools, infrastructure software, or open-source companies
  • Background running platform engineering teams that serve both internal and external consumers
  • Experience with container technologies, Kubernetes, or cloud-native development ecosystems
  • Track record of successful large-scale system migrations or platform modernization programs
  • Experience scaling an engineering organization through rapid company growth or significant product expansion
  • Visa sponsorship on a case-by-case basis based on business needs

Docker builds, shares, and runs applications in isolated containers by packaging an application and its dependencies into a container image that runs consistently across different systems. It provides tools like Docker Desktop for local development, Docker Hub as a container image repository, and a command-line interface to build, run, and manage containers. It differentiates itself with a large ecosystem, an official image repository, and integrated tools that support an end-to-end container workflow. The company aims to help developers consistently build, share, and run software across any environment, using a freemium model with subscription tiers and additional services.

Simplify Jobs

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • AI agent security market creates new wedge with NanoClaw partnership and Docker Sandboxes.
  • Enterprise security bundling opportunity through testing, scanning, and isolation product stack expansion.
  • Developer-to-enterprise conversion funnel strengthens via open-source top-of-funnel to paid subscription motion.

What critics are saying

  • Mirantis owns Docker Enterprise assets and competes directly for same enterprise workload buyers.
  • GitHub Actions and cloud-native CI/CD tools commoditize Docker's developer workflow differentiation.
  • Docker Desktop and Hub monetization depends on price increases that risk developer churn.

What makes Docker unique

  • Docker Sandboxes provide micro-VM isolation for autonomous AI agents with kernel-level security.
  • Integrated testing and security stack via AtomicJar and Nestybox acquisitions strengthen enterprise upsell.
  • 70,000+ commercial customers and $165M ARR demonstrate broad developer and enterprise adoption.

Docker partners with NanoClaw creator weeks after viral AI agent tool launch

NanoClaw creator Gavriel Cohen has struck a deal with Docker to integrate Docker Sandboxes into his open-source AI agent-building tool, capping a whirlwind six weeks since the project's launch. Cohen built NanoClaw in a weekend as a secure alternative to OpenClaw, using just 500 lines of code compared to OpenClaw's 800,000. The project exploded after AI researcher Andrej Karpathy praised it on X, garnering 22,000 GitHub stars and 4,600 forks. Cohen has since shut down his AI marketing startup, which was on track for $1 million in annual recurring revenue, to launch NanoCo around the project. The company plans to offer commercial services including forward deployed engineers to help companies build secure AI agents, though specific monetisation plans remain under development. VCs are already calling, Cohen says.

NanoClaw integrates Docker Sandboxes for secure AI agent isolation

NanoClaw, an open source AI agent platform, now runs inside Docker Sandboxes through a partnership with Docker, enhancing security for AI agents operating autonomously. Docker Sandboxes are micro VMs that provide stronger isolation than containers by running with their own kernel, creating two layers of protection. The integration addresses security concerns arising from AI agents' unpredictable behaviour and need to modify systems. Each agent runs in its own container within a micro VM, preventing access to host machines even if the agent hallucinates or misbehaves. Docker Sandboxes are currently supported on macOS and Windows, with Linux support coming soon. Docker COO Mark Cavage described the technology as enabling developers to "put YOLO in a box", allowing AI agents to run autonomously for extended periods whilst maintaining security boundaries.
