Portage Point hits top 1000 on Inc. 5000, soars 954 spots.

Portage Point hits top 1000 on Inc. 5000, soars 954 spots. Now, here's a story of grit and strategy paying off. Portage Point Partners, nestled in the often-overlooked middle market, has blasted its way to No. 880 on the 2026 Inc. 5000 list. That's not just a bump in the ranks - it's a rocket leap from No. 1834 in 2025. They're sitting pretty in the top 20% of honorees now, and it's all thanks to a staggering 400% revenue growth over three years. You don't see that every day, especially in a market that loves its headline giants. This ain't luck, it's hard work. Imagine holding your ground for six straight years on the Inc. 5000 list. It takes more than a few lucky breaks. Matthew Ray, the head honcho at Portage Point, is quick to give credit where it's due - to his team and their focus on nailing opportunities while dodging pitfalls. It's refreshing to see that kind of leadership putting its money where its mouth is, investing in top talent to match the big leagues, even if their clientele isn't commanding as much media real estate. "Middle market stakeholders deserve the same caliber of talent, insight and execution as the world's largest organizations," said Ray. Numbers that speak volumes. To get a clearer picture, the average three-year growth for companies on this list is 130%. But Portage Point isn't content with average. They've quadrupled that, a testament to their expansion strategy and execution capability. It's a competitive ballgame they're playing, each of these companies collectively adding over 627,000 jobs across three years to the economy. Portage Point's jump is no small fry - they've put in the work, and it's paying dividends. A little help from some friends. Backing of note comes from New Mountain Capital. With around $60 billion in assets under management, they've seen potential in Portage Point, opting for two minority growth investments, one in 2024 and the more recent in 2026. Clearly, there's confidence in Portage Point's strategy and growth prospects, which likely contributed to the velocity of their climb. Is the sky the limit? The bigger question looming on the horizon is sustainability. With a target on their backs, can Portage Point keep up the momentum? Past growth is no guarantee of future performance, as stock market vets like me always say. It'll be about smart moves and maybe even a bit of luck to keep them climbing. They've got the structure - a valuable integrated platform leveraging bulge bracket experience. What remains is how they navigate the ever-evolving middle market landscape. It's an inspiring climb and one to watch, especially if you're looking for signals about the pulse of the middle market. They've set a standard not easy to dismiss. Here's hoping they can keep that trajectory going because the path to the top is never straight, and it's packed with competition eager to take their spot.
