Accuray provides cancer-care technology that uses robotics and image guidance to deliver precise, non-invasive radiation treatments. Its flagship CyberKnife system places a robotic arm around the patient to aim highly focused radiation beams at tumors anywhere in the body, performing radiosurgery without surgery. In 2011 it expanded its product line by acquiring TomoTherapy, adding a helical radiation therapy platform to its portfolio, broadening the ways clinicians can treat cancer. The company differentiates itself by combining robotics with real-time imaging to track tumors and adjust treatment in real time, and by offering a broader, multi-product radiation oncology system rather than a single device. Accuray’s goal is to provide effective, non-invasive cancer treatments to patients worldwide, growing its global installed base and advancing access to precise radiation therapy.

Vision RT and Accuray launch first clinical use of AlignRT InBore on Helical Platform. By News Release Published Date: June 22, 2026 Vision RT and Accuray have announced a significant milestone in the clinical implementation of their AlignRT InBore technology, now successfully utilized on the Accuray Helical Platform. Clinique Générale-Beaulieu, a member of the Swiss Medical Network, is the inaugural institution to employ this innovative solution, setting a precedent in the global medical community. The Swiss Medical Network, comprising three sites and serving approximately 900 patients annually, intends to expand the application of AlignRT InBore for patients undergoing treatment for breast, prostate, gastrointestinal, and secondary cancers. This integration marks an advancement in bore-based helical radiotherapy available at the network's facilities. The AlignRT InBore system combines Vision RT's ceiling-mounted AlignRT camera system, used for patient setup, with a specialized multi-camera configuration mounted inside the treatment bore. This strategic combination ensures that patient visibility and tracking remain uninterrupted during setup, imaging, and treatment phases. Commenting on this development, Vision RT CEO Dr. Norman Smith stated, "AlignRT InBore on the Accuray Helical Platform represents a step further in our mission to make surface guidance universal across radiation therapy." Designed specifically for the Accuray Helical Platform, AlignRT InBore incorporates a 3 mm-thick ring within the bore, facilitating seamless integration into the treatment environment while ensuring continuous surface tracking. Piyush Pratap Singh, Director of Product Marketing at Accuray, emphasized the system's capacity to enhance treatment precision and operational efficiency, noting: "Bringing AlignRT InBore to the Accuray Helical Platform reflects our commitment to expanding a vendor-neutral ecosystem that supports advanced treatment workflows." Professor Oscar Matzinger, Medical Director of Radio-Oncology and Chief Medical Officer of the Swiss Medical Network, expressed pride in their pioneering role, stating, "This achievement reflects the successful collaboration between Vision RT, Accuray, and our department. By enabling continuous patient monitoring and supporting breath-hold treatments, this innovative technology complements the precision of Accuray helical delivery and enhances treatment quality and safety." This integration of AlignRT InBore reaffirms Vision RT's commitment to enhancing radiation therapy for optimized patient care, encompassing simulation, planning, treatment, and dosing processes.
Game changer: Just One CyberKnife treatment May cure Prostate Cancer. WOW JUST WOW: Just One Single CyberKnife Session May Be All That's Needed to Treat Prostate Cancer. Early study results look very promising. Accuray, the manufacturer of CyberKnife introduced this novel strategy for prostate cancer treatment, unveiling the so called, PRO-FAST protocol at the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology meeting in Milan. #ESTRO26 Dr. Andre Fodor from the San Raffaele Scientific Institute #IRCCS shared clinical insights on the PRO-FAST method, which aims to significantly reduce the treatment timeline for eligible patients. The initiative underscores the growing trend towards accelerated cancer therapies for patients using advanced radiotherapy technologies. To date 37 prostate cancer patients have been treated. Toxicity levels were low, and the one year follow up shows very well controlled PSA levels. Researchers are only half way through the study but believe the PRO-FAST treatment is feasible in the not too distant future. Currently 5 CyberKnife sessions are used to treat prostate cancer, compared to 42 treatment sessions with other types of radiation therapy. The approach utilizing single-day, single-fraction radiotherapy delivered through the CyberKnife system would be much more convienent for prostate cancer patients, greatly reducing the stress and time it takes to complete cancer treatment.
