Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is required.
  • Candidates must be eligible to sit for the Certified Public Accountant examination or hold Certified Public Accountant certification.
  • A minimum of three years of experience is required.
  • Experience in public accounting and auditing is required.
  • Experience with audit software is required.
  • Foundational knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and other accounting-related topics and governing entities is required.
  • Candidates must be able to travel nationally to client sites for audit fieldwork, approximately 20–40 nights per calendar year.
  • Candidates must hold a current, valid driver's license.
  • Candidates must be able to work extended hours during busy season.
  • Candidates must maintain a minimum of 40 hours of Continuing Professional Education each calendar year.
Responsibilities
  • Complete audit procedures over assigned client financial statement segments, including cash, accounts payable, and accounts receivable, obtaining sufficient appropriate audit evidence with a focus on audit quality and professional skepticism.
  • Serve as the in-charge auditor for smaller engagements and components of larger engagements.
  • Take responsibility for the audit file from engagement setup through completion, review note clearance, and audit-file closeout.
  • Prepare less complex audit reports.
  • Prepare clear and concise work papers documenting work performed, results obtained, and definitive conclusions, and document recommendations for client correspondence.
  • Prepare and post journal entries.
  • Supervise staff, conduct first reviews of staff work, and provide feedback for revision and training.
  • Communicate with clients in preparation for audits.
  • Complete engagement-level risk assessment procedures.
  • Ensure completion of elements of the general file.
  • Assist with fieldwork for operational and financial audits.
  • Identify issues and apply accounting principles and auditing procedures.
  • Develop positive working relationships with client management staff.
  • Use computer systems involved in the audit preparation process.
  • Complete audit procedures in accordance with applicable auditing standards.
  • Complete assigned tasks and deliverables to a high-quality standard.
  • Apply expertise in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, related financial reporting matters, and auditing standards.
  • Perform inventory observations and document the results.
  • Identify and document risks, issues, and conclusions, consulting appropriate team members as necessary.
  • Escalate risks and issues beyond the employee's experience or skill set.
  • Keep senior team members informed of significant developments and engagement progress.
  • Take responsibility for assigned audit areas from start to completion, including review note clearance and audit-file closeout.
  • Comply with firm practice management procedures and systems.

  • Experience working within manufacturing, agribusiness, or related industries is preferred.
