Responsibilities
  • Actively manage an active enrolled caseload of students from point of admission through program completion.
  • Monitor student progress through adherence to the established communication and contact plan and use of technology to track substantive engagements and reporting.
  • Connect with students using multiple modalities tailored to their communication preferences and provide daily availability for scheduled meeting and walk-in hours.
  • Engage in effective academic advising practices.
  • Advocate for students while enforcing institutional policies and regulations.
  • Communicate regularly with students to provide guidance and support related to academics, experiential learning planning, and periods of academic difficulty.
  • Respond to student inquiries from point of contact to resolution and follow up on referrals.
  • Make appropriate referrals to on-campus and off-campus services based on student needs.
  • Manage persistence, retention, and progress to graduation for advisees; monitor and support students needing academic or well-being support, including academically inactive students and recovery or reinstatement efforts.
  • Design and deliver programs, including workshops and webinars, to support advisees and enhance the student experience.
  • Monitor, manage, and report on the portfolio of advisees using required processes and technology platforms.
  • Maintain current student notes and records in Salesforce or Navigate, including academic progress and outcomes in University systems.
  • Track and report substantive engagements, student meetings, availability, and activities to ensure capacity meets volume.
  • Assess, collect, and report student data related to persistence, retention, graduation rates, and satisfaction.
  • Maintain compliance with ADA, FERPA, SEVIS, and applicable state, federal, University, and College of Professional Studies guidelines.
  • Support the ongoing operation of the academic advising office, including coverage as appropriate.
  • Process official student paperwork, including changes of major, transfer credit, petitions to amend degree requirements, and petitions to graduate.
  • Participate in and contribute to new student orientation content and delivery.
  • Stay informed about research and effective practices in academic and student affairs and propose ideas to better serve students.
  • Participate as an active member of professional associations related to academic advising and career services.
  • Participate in unit or College assessment efforts, including developing benchmarks for progress.
  • Liaise between students and the University community and collaborate with offices and departments to ensure efficient and consistent student services.
