Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • A valid state driver's license and proof of insurance are required.
  • The ability to maintain strict confidentiality is required.
  • Word processing skills of at least 55 words per minute are required.
  • Strong knowledge of medical insurance and terminology is required.
  • Knowledge of Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and Regional Medicare Administrative Contractor regulations is required.
  • Employees must be able to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test that includes marijuana.
  • Employees must follow company health and safety policies and guidelines.
  • Employees must maintain required attendance and be able to rotate to other shifts and locations as needed.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise multiple Insurance Specialists.
  • Coordinate workflow for billing staff members.
  • Communicate concerns to the manager and recommend workflow changes to ensure daily tasks are completed.
  • Establish, monitor, and ensure production standards for the department.
  • Monitor billers' production and performance, handle disciplinary actions, and provide feedback to the radiology billing manager for annual evaluations.
  • Maintain a tracking process for ongoing issues addressed at monthly staff meetings.
  • Anticipate changes in activity levels and adjust staff and other resources to meet productivity standards.
  • Facilitate training for all new employees.
  • Communicate regularly with the manager about departmental activities and issues.
  • Troubleshoot employee and claim issues, escalating unresolved issues to the appropriate level.
  • Act as a liaison between staff, management, and patients.
  • Conduct scheduled team meetings to share information, identify and resolve problems, and receive feedback.
  • Develop and implement department operating policies and procedures.
  • Treat patients with dignity and respect and provide excellent customer service.
  • Conform to Joint Commission and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act regulations and comply with protected health information requirements.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Completion of a two-year medical billing course or equivalent experience.
  • At least one year of supervisory-level experience.
  • At least three years of experience working in a medical office.
  • Experience with Current Procedural Terminology and International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision coding.
  • Understanding of procedures to be read by a radiologist.
  • Experience with Outlook, Microsoft Office applications, Excel, Access, and Medinformatics.
  • Demonstrated self-directed learning and participation in continuing education through professional journals and approved seminars.
