Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years working experience
  • In-depth knowledge and skillset in valuing assets and/portfolio companies, discounted cash-flow modelling and debt modelling
  • An understanding of fund management processes for debt and equity across private funds
  • Previous experience of working in the renewables sector or infrastructure real assets
  • Experience of creating high quality investor outputs
  • Excellent financial acumen, CFA qualification considered advantageous
  • Proficiency with Power BI/Excel modelling is implied in responsibilities but not explicitly a requirement
Responsibilities
  • Equity investment modelling: monitor assigned portfolio companies and/or renewable energy assets, create, maintain and improve portfolio company and operational asset models; deliver accurate and timely quarterly valuations; update models and conduct assumptions reviews; prepare and present valuation papers to the Valuation Committee for approval and sign-off; maintain relationships with Asset Managers to understand Asset Performance; monitor investor returns, track record and other fund KPIs; onboard new acquisitions into the Fund Management Team; use Power BI/Excel models to perform these tasks
  • Cashflow forecasting: forecast cash within assigned portfolios and provide coherent and accurate cashflow forecast across all invested assets
  • Debt modelling: understand debt structures in asset portfolios, ensure lender requirements are understood and complied with; work with Investments on project finance and build knowledge
  • Audit support: respond to Fund-level audit requests providing accurate data, supporting evidence and analysis in a timely manner
  • Portfolio Management: follow processes and conduct analysis including FX, Interest Rate Swaps, Cash Products; work with Finance and Investments to ensure fund mandates
  • Risk Management: support Senior Portfolio Manager in governance, input into papers for Boards, monitor risks and escalate/mitigate
  • Investor Reporting: coordinate and input into creation of investor reports and outputs that are accurate and relevant
  • Continuous Improvement: identify improvements, drive consolidation, simplification and automation; work on Fund Management Projects

Octopus Energy takes majority stake in Uplight to scale flexible grids across North America

Octopus Energy Group is acquiring a majority stake in Uplight, a North American grid flexibility provider, in partnership with Schneider Electric, which will remain a significant minority partner. Octopus Energy invests $1B in California clean tech and solar projects

Octopus Energy enters China with PCG Power to trade 140TWh renewable electricity annually by 2030

Octopus Energy has entered China's clean energy market through a joint venture with PCG Power, announced during the UK Prime Minister's visit to China. The partnership will create Bitong Energy, focused on trading renewable electricity across China's expanding spot power markets. The venture combines PCG Power's position in China's commercial and industrial renewable sector with Octopus Energy's technology for real-time power trading and asset management. It will launch initially in Guangdong province before expanding nationwide.
