Requirements
  • A Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution is required; a Bachelor's degree with exceptional, demonstrated executive experience will be considered.
  • At least 15 years of progressive electrical engineering experience, including at least 8 years in senior technical leadership roles within the power generation, utility, or distributed energy sector, is required.
  • A Professional Engineer license is required.
  • Extensive expertise in high-voltage, medium-voltage, and low-voltage power distribution systems, advanced switchgear controls, grid interconnection, and national and international electrical codes and standards is required.
  • The candidate must be able to manage a portfolio of complex engineering programs and strategic initiatives simultaneously.
  • The candidate must demonstrate strong business acumen and the ability to translate technical strategies into business outcomes.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills are required to influence executive stakeholders, represent the company at industry events, and inspire large engineering teams.
  • Advanced proficiency with enterprise-level engineering design software, power system simulation tools such as PSCAD, PSS/E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, and CYME, and project portfolio management systems is required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of power electronics, protective relaying, supervisory control and data acquisition systems, and cybersecurity best practices for critical infrastructure is required.
  • The candidate must be able to lead organizational change, foster continuous improvement, and attract and retain engineering talent.
Responsibilities
  • Provide executive technical leadership and strategic direction for all electrical engineering functions.
  • Define and champion the long-term technical roadmap for electrical systems, including innovation and intellectual property development.
  • Serve as the ultimate technical authority and strategic advisor on complex electrical engineering matters, design decisions, problem solving, and technical risk mitigation.
  • Oversee the strategic development and implementation of electrical designs for high-voltage, medium-voltage, and low-voltage systems.
  • Drive generation integration with utility grids, including interconnection agreements, grid stability analyses, and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead the development and deployment of protection and control systems, relay applications, substation automation, and critical-infrastructure cybersecurity.
  • Conduct and oversee complex power system studies, including transient stability, harmonic analysis, and electromagnetic transients.
  • Mentor, develop, and empower the electrical engineering organization.
  • Cultivate collaborative relationships with executive leadership, product development, project management, sales, external stakeholders, utility partners, and clients.
  • Represent the company as a technical expert at industry conferences, regulatory bodies, and with utility partners and clients.
  • Ensure compliance with national and international electrical codes, standards, and safety regulations, including the National Electrical Code, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Underwriters Laboratories, International Electrotechnical Commission, and National Electrical Safety Code.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning, design, and review of utility-owned and customer-owned substations.

  • An understanding of the energy industry, power markets, distributed energy resources, and microgrids is preferred.
  • Executive leadership, strategic thinking, and experience driving large-scale technical and organizational transformation are preferred.
  • A distinguished record of leading multidisciplinary engineering teams in developing and deploying complex energy infrastructure projects is preferred.
  • Recognition as a thought leader and innovator in electrical engineering, particularly in sustainable energy solutions, is preferred.

Enchanted Rock provides fully managed natural gas–powered microgrids as a resiliency service for mission-critical customers. It designs, installs, monitors 24/7, and maintains distributed generation systems that keep essential power on during grid failures, and these microgrids can feed power back to the grid when not in use to offset costs. The systems use natural gas and renewable natural gas to reduce emissions versus diesel backups, with potential for future hydrogen blending, and they are designed to be quieter with a smaller footprint. The company aims to improve power reliability for critical infrastructure while offering an affordable, sustainable backup option and creating revenue streams for clients through grid interconnections and reserve power services.

Erock soars 23% on $1.7B backlog from 470-MW Anthropic deal

Erock Inc. jumped 22.84% to $13.82 on Wednesday following a major equipment deal with Anthropic. The onsite power solutions provider secured a 470-MW order from Anthropic, pushing its contracted power system sales backlog to $1.7 billion and extending production commitments through 2028. The rally came despite weak second-quarter results. Erock posted net losses of $67.7 million, up 748% year-on-year due to IPO-related charges, whilst revenues fell 42% to $39.88 million. CEO John Carrington highlighted AI infrastructure's impact on power markets. The company began operations at its Hyperion manufacturing facility and started construction on a 366-MW project supporting Meta's data centre campus. For the full year, Erock targets revenues of $435 million to $465 million and adjusted EBITDA of $3 million to $9 million.

JPMorgan tips $700M fintech Wise and power firm ERock for rebounds after rough IPO debuts

J.P. Morgan has identified two recent IPO stocks with significant rebound potential despite post-listing struggles. ERock (EROC), which provides utility-scale power solutions for data centres and critical infrastructure, has fallen 42% since its June IPO that raised $600 million. J.P. Morgan analyst Mark Strouse rates it Overweight with a $24 price target, implying 122% upside. The company's natural gas-fired modular power systems address growing demand for backup power as grid reliability faces pressure. Wise (WSE), the fintech firm processing cross-border payments, has dropped 18% since moving its primary listing to Nasdaq in May. Despite regulatory scrutiny in Belgium, the company reported $2.5 billion revenue and $660.4 million pre-tax income in fiscal 2026. J.P. Morgan analyst Craig McDowell maintains an Overweight rating with a $17.50 target, suggesting 37% upside. Both stocks have Strong Buy or Moderate Buy consensus ratings from Wall Street analysts.
