Requirements
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school and current bar admission.
  • Three to six years of relevant practical experience at a law firm, in-house at a regulated firm or in the digital assets industry, a federal regulatory agency, a Capitol Hill office or committee, and/or a government relations firm.
  • Strong understanding of the digital asset or financial services industry and related market conditions and trends.
  • Strong knowledge of current legal and regulatory aspects affecting digital assets and/or financial services.
  • Knowledge of and experience with U.S. federal capital markets regulations, including securities and/or commodities frameworks, and their application to digital assets and/or financial services.
  • Ability to work across cultures and stakeholder communities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with clear targets, deadlines, and outcomes, handle multiple priorities, and maintain work quality.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and advocate for policy and legal positions with federal regulators on regulatory issues related to the digital asset industry, including market structure, trading, exchange operations, custody, payment stablecoins, staking, decentralized finance, non-fungible tokens, tax, banking, securities, commodities, and derivatives.
  • Conduct regulatory and legal research and analysis, synthesizing information for internal leadership, CCI members, and external audiences, including key takeaways, potential implications, and recommended action items.
  • Draft comment letters, memoranda, briefing materials, policy reports and proposals, comments on regulations, formal correspondence, and litigation materials.
  • Monitor and comprehensively analyze U.S. state and federal regulations, case law, guidance, rulemaking, and policies related to digital assets and financial services, identify legal and regulatory issues, and recommend solutions and advocacy positions.
  • Coordinate and work with Government Affairs, Policy Counsel, CCI Working Groups, CCI members, and other cross-functional stakeholders to determine needs, strategies, and policy goals.
  • Assist with and participate in CCI engagement with U.S. state and federal regulators, policymakers, their staff, third-party organizations, and other critical stakeholders.
