Requirements
  • A high school diploma or General Educational Development certificate is required.
  • A Medical Assistant certification from an accredited program such as NHA and AMCA is required.
  • Basic Life Support Certification from the American Heart Association is required.
  • At least two years of related medical assisting experience with front and back office responsibilities at a physician’s office or other clinical setting, or an equivalent combination of training and experience, is required.
  • Experience in at least one specialty area is preferred.
  • Experience with insurance and prior authorization is preferred.
  • Measles, mumps, varicella, and annual influenza immunizations are required as a condition of employment.
Responsibilities
  • Room patients, obtain vital signs and visit information, and document symptoms, including their frequency and severity.
  • Prepare accurate medication lists using the medication review standard workflow.
  • Document required information in electronic medical records.
  • Provide injections and immunizations as ordered by the provider.
  • Assist during medical procedures.
  • Obtain patient information required to meet regulatory obligations.
  • Track receipt of results for ordered tests.
  • Perform point-of-care testing and all associated quality controls.
  • Perform electrocardiograms and place Zio patches according to workflow protocol.
  • Use electronic medical records and task lists to complete patient visits or requests.
  • Follow critical lab result protocols.
  • Provide patients with accurate information when answering questions and concerns.
  • Maintain patient records and protect patient confidentiality.
  • Complete referrals accurately and appropriately.
  • Use closed-loop communication to ensure providers and required staff are aware of patient status.
  • Disinfect exam rooms between patients and all patient areas at the end of the day.
  • Assist with clinic upkeep, including daily cleaning and supply ordering and inventory.
  • Follow infection prevention practices related to instructions for use, and reprocessing standards for instruments and equipment.
  • Collaborate with team members on ongoing projects.
  • Comply with Occupational Safety and Health Administration and safety regulations.
  • Rotate between multi-specialty practices and work in multiple locations as assigned based on patient volume demand.
