About the job

Requirements
  • At least 7 years of experience in operations management, with demonstrated ownership of both business-as-usual performance and transformation delivery, not just project participation.
  • Experience working across multiple lines of business or product portfolios within a regulated financial services or insurance environment.
  • Ability to manage and develop operational teams in a complex, matrixed organisation, including hub or shared services relationships.
  • A track record of delivering transformation outcomes with measurable results, such as efficiency gains, cost reduction, or full-time-equivalent optimisation.
  • Strong stakeholder management capability, including credibility with senior country and regional leadership simultaneously and the ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Clear, confident communication in executive briefings, working-level problem-solving sessions, and written reporting.
  • Commercial acumen, including the ability to build and defend a business case and manage an operational budget.
Responsibilities
  • Own day-to-day operational performance across all lines of business in the Philippines—Commercial, Financial Lines, Consumer, and CBS hub operations—ensuring adherence to service standards, service-level agreements, and internal controls.
  • Develop, monitor, and report operational key performance indicators across in-country and CBS teams; produce regular performance dashboards for the Country President and APAC Operations & Transformation function.
  • Conduct periodic performance reviews with team leaders; identify trends and root causes of underperformance and drive corrective action.
  • Proactively manage operational risk, including process controls, audit readiness, business continuity planning, and regulatory compliance; act as the primary point of contact for internal and external operations audits.
  • Lead capacity planning and resource optimisation across operational teams, ensuring staffing levels and capability align with current and projected business volumes.
  • Develop and enforce operational standard operating procedures, policies, and governance frameworks to maintain consistency and quality across functions.
  • Manage vendor and third-party operations relationships, including CBS hub performance, contract compliance, and escalation resolution.
  • Oversee operational budget development and expenditure monitoring; identify cost optimisation opportunities without compromising service delivery.
  • Foster a high-performance operations culture focused on accountability, service excellence, and continuous improvement across teams.
  • Serve as the primary in-country lead for APAC-wide transformation programmes, including automation, hub model evolution, digital intake, and workflow platform initiatives; translate regional strategy into local delivery plans.
  • Conduct process discovery, including process mapping, current-state assessment, gap analysis, and opportunity sizing across in-country operational functions.
  • Own the Philippines transformation initiative pipeline from business case through implementation and post-go-live benefits tracking, ensuring delivery against agreed timelines and outcomes.
  • Lead digital and automation initiatives that eliminate manual, repetitive processes and increase throughput across lines of business.
  • Drive continuous improvement using structured methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent; reduce waste, improve cycle times, and enhance service quality.
  • Manage risk across transformation projects; identify issues early and work with stakeholders to design and execute mitigation plans.
  • Maintain clear project documentation and status reporting for country and regional audiences.
  • Build a culture of improvement and innovation within the operations team; encourage new ways of working, embrace technology, and develop internal capability to sustain change.
  • Build and maintain trusted working relationships with the Country President, Head of Operations & Transformation APAC, Head of Commercial Operations APAC, and Head of Consumer Philippines; navigate competing priorities across this stakeholder group.
  • Drive alignment and action across functions and leadership layers where no direct line authority exists.
  • Provide clear, evidence-based operational reporting to the Country President and APAC Operations & Transformation function; flag issues early and recommend courses of action.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with Finance, Compliance, IT, Legal, and HR to ensure operational activities align with organisational and regulatory requirements.
  • Represent the Philippines operations function in regional forums and working groups as required.
  • Provide line management to the Philippines Technology Officer, who has a dotted-line relationship to the Head of Asia Technology; act as the in-country accountability point for technology performance and escalation.
  • Oversee business-as-usual technology operations in the Philippines, including local systems availability, wiring closet and network infrastructure management, hardware lifecycle, and incident resolution, ensuring technology supports uninterrupted business operations.
  • Liaise with Asia Technology on regional technology initiatives, ensuring local requirements and constraints are represented and in-country technology delivery aligns with broader regional architecture.
  • Maintain awareness of technology risks, including outages, vulnerabilities, and capacity constraints; ensure they are proactively managed and appropriately reported to country and regional stakeholders.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in insurance operations—commercial lines, financial lines, or consumer/accident and health—within an APAC market context.
  • Familiarity with CBS or centralised processing hub models and their operational and people-management challenges.
  • Exposure to automation, intelligent document processing, or workflow platforms in an operations setting.
  • Formal project or change management credentials such as Project Management Professional, Managing Successful Programmes, Prosci, or equivalent.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations Management, or a related field.

Travelers and Chubb keep 16 cents of every premium dollar, backed by $272B in investments

Travelers and Chubb keep about 16 cents or more of every premium dollar as underwriting profit, making them appealing to growth-minded investors. Travelers posted an underlying combined ratio of 84.1% in the third quarter of 2026. Chubb's ratio was 81.3% in the US, 86.4% abroad, and 80.7% in reinsurance. A ratio below 100% signals a profit. Premiums are paid up front and claims later, so insurers can invest the "float" in between. Travelers' portfolio is worth $100 billion and Chubb's $172 billion. Travelers earned nearly $1.1 billion in investment income in the second quarter, and Chubb more than $1.7 billion. Both trade above their five-year average price-to-book ratios, and each yields just over 1%, so value and income investors may look elsewhere.

Chubb shares up 105% in five years: is the $357.75 price still undervalued?

Chubb shares have returned 105.5% over the past five years, and the stock now trades at $357.75 and 12.3 times earnings. An Excess Returns analysis by Simply Wall St asks whether the insurer's returns on capital justify that price. The model uses a book value of $195.45 per share and a stable earnings estimate of $30.40 per share, based on forecasts from 12 analysts. It puts the excess return at $14.57 per share, with average return on equity of 13.56%. Chubb Wealth recently partnered with Hamilton Lane to widen access to private market investments in Hong Kong. That may add fee income and options for deploying capital. Chubb reported record adjusted net investment income of $1.88 billion on a $175 billion invested asset base.

Vaultik partners with Chubb to offer AI-powered watch and jewellery authentication, valuation and insurance

Vaultik has partnered with Chubb to streamline the process of authenticating, valuing, and insuring watches and jewellery. Through Vaultik's platform, owners can photograph their items and receive AI-powered authentication and valuation results, reviewed by experts at Birmingham Assay Office. Eligible customers can then request insurance quotes from Chubb and purchase coverage digitally within the same application. The collaboration addresses a traditionally fragmented process that typically requires separate appointments for appraisal and insurance. The service is available through Vaultik's Collect App and can be offered by retailers, jewellers, and marketplace sellers. Vaultik currently partners with WhatNot and eBay Live. Vaultik's KYP protocol generates authentication and valuation outputs from photographs, whilst Birmingham Assay Office provides specialist review. Chubb underwrites the insurance coverage for eligible items.
