Requirements
  • Active CLHA registration is required.
  • A current and clear criminal records check completed within the last six months is required for all new employees.
  • Graduate of an approved Health Care Aide or Personal Support Worker course or equivalent, as recognized by Alberta Health Services.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills are required.
  • Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and effective time management skills are required.
  • Strong customer service skills and a focus on positive working relationships with residents, families, and co-workers are required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide direct personal and nursing care for assigned residents under the direction of the Registered Nurse and Licensed Practical Nurse and the supervision of the Resident Care Manager, in accordance with facility policies and work routines.
  • Assist in providing restorative care, including ambulation, feeding, bathing, and grooming.
  • Observe and report changes in residents’ physical and emotional condition as part of the nursing process.
  • Follow resident care plans and provide consistent, quality care as outlined.
  • Assist with meal service and nourishment delivery, provide feeding assistance as required, and report and record changes in appetite or hydration.
  • Maintain records reflecting each resident’s condition, care, and specific treatments.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working with seniors and/or chronic care residents in a health care facility.
  • For specialized units such as Alzheimer’s care, willingness to complete a course in the specialty.
