Requirements
  • You have completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in telecommunications, computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • You have more than two years of practical experience in network architecture, Wi-Fi systems, or Mobile Device Management, ideally in rail vehicles or a similarly complex technical environment.
  • You have demonstrated experience troubleshooting complex network systems under time pressure.
  • You have strong problem-solving ability.
  • You take ownership, bring topics to completion independently, and lead cross-functional initiatives with people from different teams and disciplines.
  • You communicate clearly and persuasively with technical experts and non-technical stakeholders while maintaining precision.
  • You have business-fluent German and English skills for work in an international team and with German-speaking suppliers and authorities.
Responsibilities
  • You own FlixTrain's entire onboard technology ecosystem, including Wi-Fi, networks, onboard units, and mobile devices.
  • You serve as the central technical contact for all onboard systems, evaluate specifications, weigh trade-offs, and make well-founded decisions.
  • You continuously monitor onboard technology performance, identify problems early, and drive improvements.
  • You independently lead cross-functional projects involving connectivity, network performance, and integration of mobile devices into the vehicle fleet.
  • You define technical specifications and network architectures that are ambitious, feasible, and ensure seamless interfaces with the vehicle fleet.
  • You develop test scenarios and functional validations, particularly at the interface with customers and certification bodies, to ensure solutions work in real operations.
  • You monitor emerging technologies such as 5G, IoT, and Starlink and translate findings into concrete recommendations for FlixTrain's technology roadmap.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with suppliers of rail-vehicle systems and familiarity with the contractual, technical, and regulatory environment of the rail industry.
