On-site requirement: This position requires employees to be in office 3 days per week. Our offices are located in San Mateo, Dublin, or Atlanta.
ABOUT THE JOB:
First-line managers play a pivotal role in driving Snowflake’s growth strategy. They are constantly under pressure from competing priorities and must master a set of skills, tools, and processes to succeed. As Field Leader Enablement Manager, you will be responsible for enabling this important role in areas such as managing, leading, recruiting and hiring, operational excellence, coaching, and managing underperformance, among many others.
Just as important as the enablement itself is what happens after each manager is enabled. You will be responsible for defining, building, and executing a world-class multi-faceted reinforcement plan that ensures mastery is achieved for each of your projects.
As a member of the enablement team in a hyper-growth company, you will be expected to collaborate with other enablement functions, engage with senior stakeholders, lead and run complex projects in fast-paced environments, and be accountable for your projects’ results and their impact on the managers.
This is a global role. Snowflake strongly prefers that the successful candidate live near a Snowflake office and work from the office a minimum of three times per week. Some travel is required.
As approximately 40-50% of the first-line managers have technical roles, previous experience as a Sales Engineering Manager at a software company is a must. Priority is given to candidates who understand the data cloud space.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with Sales Engineering leaders on development requirements. This requires business acumen, executive presence, and effective communication skills.
Lead the design and development efforts of your manager enablement projects, while keeping Enablement and Field Leaders apprised of progress and key decisions.
Manage the execution of learning roadmaps, ensuring alignment with business goals.
Drive adoption of all Field Leader enablement. At times, this is done at scale through effective communication channels, and at times through personal networking and follow-through.
Work closely with the Sales Engineering Enablement Team so that there are clear interlocks between how Sales Engineers are enabled and the corresponding skills required for Sales Engineering Managers.
Leverage Snowflake’s learning management systems (LMS) and other tools for reinforcement of your enablement projects.
Partner with adjacent groups, such as the Onboarding team to ensure new managers are onboarded effectively. Similarly, Snowflake’s Product, Product Marketing, and Field CTO organizations will play a critical role in the development, deployment, and reinforcement of your enablement programs.
Monitor and adjust enablement plans based on performance data and evolving business needs, demonstrating a disciplined approach to program management and prioritization.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Past experience as a Sales Engineering Manager in the technology sector (software, not hardware) will be given significant weighting in our selection of the preferred candidate.
6+ years of relevant experience in enterprise software, encompassing sales engineering and enablement.
Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, secure executive sponsorship, and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Capable of navigating complex decision cycles and adapting to a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
5+ years of experience in program management and/or curriculum design and development within the technology sector.
5+ years of experience designing and developing engaging instructional materials for technical audiences, with a strong understanding of adult learning principles.
Solid understanding of programming, systems architecture, or database administration, coupled with hands-on knowledge of e-learning and video editing tools.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Deep understanding of sales engineering workflows and technical sales processes to align enablement strategies with the unique challenges of pre-sales and technical engagements.
Proficiency in using metrics and analytics to assess the effectiveness of enablement initiatives, ensuring programs address skill gaps, improve efficiency, and drive team performance.
Effective facilitation skills are needed to conduct high-impact meetings as well as deliver live and virtual programs
At Snowflake, we don’t just run training programs. Rather, we seek to have a measurable impact. So, knowledge of change management best practices and how to achieve Kirkpatrick Level 3 or Level 4 impact is a plus.
