Requirements
  • A Doctor of Dental Medicine or Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from an accredited college or university recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation.
  • A certificate of completion from a Commission on Dental Accreditation-accredited advanced education program in pediatric dentistry.
  • Board certification in Pediatric Dentistry.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
  • Eligibility for licensure in Nevada.
  • For the Program Director designation, five years of management experience and ten years of related and supervisory experience are required.
  • Credentials must be obtained before the start date.
Responsibilities
  • Provide education in the predoctoral curriculum and the Commission on Dental Accreditation-accredited Advanced Education Program in Pediatric Dentistry.
  • Coordinate teaching and learning in pediatric dentistry to support curriculum design and competency for general dentistry practice.
  • Train and mentor general dentists enrolled in the advanced education program in pediatric dentistry.
  • Provide discipline-specific education, supervise and oversee students pursuing a Doctor of Dental Medicine or Doctor of Dental Surgery degree, and serve as a professional mentor and role model.
  • Present relevant courses, lectures, and seminars in pediatric dentistry.
  • Integrate evidence-based curriculum and clinical patient care across both programs.
  • For the Program Director designation, oversee curriculum development and implementation, clinical operations, monitoring, assessment, reporting, and evaluation for the pediatric dentistry program in accordance with Commission on Dental Accreditation requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Dental Medicine quality assurance measures and protocols, electronic health record AxiUm audits, and related compliance measures at external rotation locations.
  • Manage the admissions process, review, and selection in coordination with the Assistant/Associate Dean for Advanced Education.
  • Ensure advanced education students comply with required protocols, quality assurance measures, and professional standards.
  • Provide the administrative link between the predoctoral and advanced education programs and foster an inclusive and diverse resident, staff, and faculty population.
