  • A Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Zero to two years of experience in controls engineering, programming, robotics, or related areas.
  • Intermediate experience in Siemens programmable logic controller and human-machine interface programming and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Kuka robots.
  • Experience using torque screwdrivers.
  • Experience with Keyence vision systems.
  • Experience with AutoCAD for electrical design.
  • Familiarity with industrial equipment safety standards, including OSHA and NFPA.
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical manufacturing processes.
  • Proficient computer literacy, including Windows and Microsoft-based software applications, and AutoCAD skills.
  • A proficient understanding of electrical theory and the ability to navigate schematics.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with others.
  • Ability to comply with safety policies and procedures, wear personal protective equipment in designated areas, and occasionally lift up to 35 pounds shoulder high.
Responsibilities
  • Design electrical and control systems for industrial automation systems.
  • Design and draft cable-connection diagrams for robots, robot end-of-arm tools, robot controllers, and other machines.
  • Design and draft conductor, relay, and component arrangements for electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, and lubrication devices.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair controls, instruments, equipment, and systems for commercial, domestic, and industrial applications, including electrical and pneumatic issues.
  • Program and configure plant-floor data interfaces for traceability.
  • Diagram logic systems for functions such as sequence and timing control.
  • Lead support for vision inspection systems.
  • Write work instructions for controls processes, including programs, programmable logic controllers, and automation.
  • Support development of robust process control plans for production.
  • Collaborate with other functional groups to describe installation and maintenance details, including bearing lubrication requirements and whether lubrication is automatic or manual.
  • Confer with equipment manufacturers to resolve problems with control-system construction.
  • Review schematics with customer representatives and answer questions during robot-system installation.
  • Observe gauges during trial runs of programmed machines and equipment to verify that electrical signals conform to specifications.
  • Design controls for energy conversion or other industrial plant monitoring systems.
  • Troubleshoot electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.
  • Lead others in fabricating test control apparatus and equipment, and determine testing methods, procedures, and conditions.
  • Ensure manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Occasionally travel, up to 5% of the time.

The company is expanding its propulsion portfolio for commercial vehicles across both battery-electric and internal combustion powertrains. According to BorgWarner, the new LFP battery architecture has been developed with more optimized packaging, reduced weight and a smaller overall footprint. These improvements are designed to help lower production costs while supporting the requirements of commercial vehicle manufacturers and fleet operators. The technology comes as commercial vehicle manufacturers and fleet operators face increasing pressure to meet stringent emission norms while maintaining total cost of ownership (TCO), vehicle performance and payload capacity.
