Requirements
  • A high school diploma is required.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a safety facilitator or equivalent, or supervisory field experience demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties, is required.
  • At least 5 years of scaffold competency is required.
  • Working knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements and their application to construction work is required.
  • The ability to learn and apply company and site safety rules is required.
  • The ability to read and properly interpret complex company safety policies, client safety documents, and government-requirement documents, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Mine Safety and Health Administration documents, is required.
  • Good leadership skills and the ability to influence others and deal with conflict under difficult conditions are required.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to identify and resolve issues, including safety risks, are required.
  • Basic computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheets, are required.
  • A valid current driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
  • A valid Occupational Safety and Health Administration 500 certificate and experience instructing Occupational Safety and Health Administration 10- and 30-hour courses are required.
  • A Transportation Worker Identification Credential card is required.
  • The ability to meet physical requirements, work at heights above 300 feet, use required tools, and follow company directives and safety procedures is required.
Responsibilities
  • Observe jobsite working conditions to ensure safe work conditions exist.
  • Take corrective action for unsafe conditions, including immediate correction, area isolation or access restriction, stopping work when necessary, and reporting conditions and recommended actions to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Observe workforce behavior for unsafe acts and take immediate corrective action before an incident or accident occurs.
  • Report observations of unsafe conditions and acts verbally and in writing to management.
  • Assist the workforce in planning work with consideration of safety aspects.
  • Assist site supervision with safety briefs, pre-task planning, and Job Hazard Analysis development, including performing, reviewing, and guiding supervisors in effective briefs and analyses.
  • Respond to incidents and accidents, provide emergency aid support as needed, and ensure unsafe acts or conditions are corrected to prevent further incidents or accidents.
  • Assist with issuing and inspecting personal protective equipment.
  • Assist with safety incident and accident investigations.
  • Help stage and evaluate the use of fresh air throughout the facility.
  • Work closely with line management and the operations team to communicate safety guidelines and procedures and evaluate unusual situations.
Desired Qualifications
  • Current Zachry or Zachry ROF employee status is preferred.
  • Former experience working with Zachry Industrial, Inc. is preferred.
  • Experience as a craft worker or craft supervisor on an industrial construction project is preferred.
  • Training or certification in Occupational Safety and Health Administration 10, Occupational Safety and Health Administration 30, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, confined space competent person, excavation competent person, NCCER Field Safety, NCCER Safety Technology, or a Board of Certified Safety Professionals certification is preferred.

Zachry Group awarded Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract for NiSource's Combined Cycle Generation Project. SAN ANTONIO-(BUSINESS WIRE)-Zachry Group (Zachry) has been awarded the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract for NiSource Inc.'s Combined Cycle Generation Project, a major infrastructure project located near Wheatfield, Indiana. The facility will support NiSource's delivery of electricity to a third-party customer and includes two nominal 1,300-megawatt gas-fired combined cycle units in a 2 x 2 x 1 configuration. A subsidiary of NiSource Inc. will own and operate the facility. The EPC contract will be executed by a joint venture between Zachry Group and Quanta Services, Inc. (Quanta). Zachry will lead engineering, procurement, project management, construction planning, and commissioning, drawing on its five decades of experience designing and building over 100 gas-fired facilities totaling more than 60,000 megawatts. Quanta will contribute field-level leadership and craft workforce management through its operating companies. This collaborative approach is designed to enhance execution certainty, optimize labor resources, and deliver cost-effective, high-quality infrastructure.
